Default 928 GT Bodies / Body Styles

Hello all

So, I know I've asked 2 - 3 basic questions over the last month here and I really appreciate the feedback from you. My goal is to buy a 928 GT this summer... whenever I find the right one.

So, I looked another one yesterday and found a very strange reflector panel mounted to the back. This looks like an add-on to make the car look like a GTS. Or, was it standard?

Obviously, the painted spoiler is not standard. Otherwise the car looked pretty much original to me. I just don't want a car that has a modified body... Engine mods that can be easily changed back are no problem...

Thanks for the feedback!

Cheeers,

JP

No it is not standard.
Like you said, it can be an add-on or it is a GTS back installed after an accident.
I think as the S4/GT back bumper cover are difficult to find - new that is - a lot of people install
the GTS one.

This is a GTS bumper cover. The cost of upgrading is rather high; not many owners would do this just for the looks.

It is more likely that the original cover was damaged and then replaced with the GTS cover and reflector. The original S4/GT cover is no longer available.

Replacing a bumper cover is NOT a reliable indicator of a serious accident. It's relatively easy to damage a bumper cover and nothing else. But you should have the car checked for significant body work, just in case.

You didn't say what MY the GT was. Painted rear spoiler was an option in at least '91. Option code M595.

It's a 90 GT, and I didn't think this was an option in 1990 anyway.
