928 Odometers

928 Odometers
So, I'm looking at GTs and will buy soon. :-)
One car has about 100'000 kms and the other car has about 50'000 kms. How difficult is it to actually change the miles on those electronic odometers? How much of my purchase decision should I really base on the difference of 50'000 kms? I'm thinking the 928s look pretty solid. 50'000 kms just isn't much.
A funny story: my daily driver is a SAAB 9-3 also with an electronic odometer. The car has 250'000 kms but looks basically new in and out except for some rock chips on the hood. (Bought the car new too.) When I thought about trading it in for a new car last year the guy said, well book value is XXX but the car is such good shape I could give you 1.5*xxx. I know the people who will will buy it from me will just change the mileage and resell at a higher price...
Cheers, JP

Welcome to the forum, JP. Where are you?
We will need more comparative info than just mileage.
The digital odometer cannot be hacked by the average owner.

If you can pull the cluster it is pretty easy but on a digital dash you would need to pull the cluster plus have a programer & software. If you google "odometer correction craiglist" you can find guys who will do it for $150-$700 depending on the make/model.

Thanks, JB. This is what I was thinking. One just has to give things a good look and use one's best common sense!
Randy, as far as location goes, I am somehow caught between Chicago and Lausanne (CH). The mileage question was just "all things being equal" are 50'000kms really such a big difference? In fact that one with 100'000kms had a slight bit of painting done on the driver's rear quarter panel, but the car had been really updated with new clutch, timing belt and water pump. I'll drive the car with 50'000kms next weekend. According to the statements, it has had no body work done at all.
Probably, it will be between these two... :-)
