Help - Broken bolt
HELP!
I did something stupid like not reading Dwayne's write up properly. So I went in and tried to install the motor mount to the block and tightened the large bolt to 62 ft lb. 3 of them went ok, but the last one broke.
I know that is not the correct torque after rereading his writeup. But now what do I do?
The bolt is long and the threaded portion is just a small part at the tip. It is M10x105.
Do you know where I can get a long reverse drill bit? What size?
A long drill out?
Should I just leave it?
Do I have to replace the other 3 bolts as they might have stretched also?
Thanks
Bilal

It's not the correct thing to do, but if it were my own car, i'd just leave it until a time when I have to pull the engine.

I just had to do a broken bolt removal.
This would have been insanely difficult with the engine in the car. My engine was out and was still a real pain.
Not sure if all 928s have 8 Motor Mount bolts. 4 large and 4 small. Seems like a bit overkill.
It was one of the smaller (thinner) Motor Mount bolts, tried drilling and easy out.
Finally gave up. I was so close to the threads, I ended up just drilling the whole bolt out and will use a longer and thicker bolt with a nut amd washer.

Since the hole is a straight trough and the bolt didn't bottom out, it should be easy for it to come out with a reverse drill bit. I would attempt to take the other bolts out and buy new correct ones from a vendor, they should be cheap. When you do buy a reverse drill bit buy high quality name brands, other cheap manufacturers wont even penetrate wood.
Good Luck
