David Lloyd? Musante Motorsports, CT 928 friendly?
I'm on the hunt for a respected 928 friendly shop. Searching here came up with David Lloyd and Musante Motorsports in CT. I'm in North NJ so it's about 3 hours away. Seems to the be the closest shop that is recommended on Rennlist. Called this morning and David's been gone for a few years but Chris Musante was very friendly and knew all about 928's. Chris say's he has all the 928 tools, service covers, etc. Knew he could change a cam tower and even a head without pulling the engine. Said he David is a great friend and he can call him if he ever has a question.
Just wondering, Is David Lloyd still around and working on 928s? Anyone have more current feedback on Musante Motorsports? I'll send my car many hours in any direction to get a well respected 928 mechanic to work on my car. I used to use Capt Earl, two hours South of me, but he's hung up his Torque Wrench.
I've got a short list of misc small issues I want to address including a recently inop oil pressure gauge but my primary concern is a pesky oil leak that is getting worse. Could just be a cam tower gasket but could be the pass head gasket (No oil in coolant and no coolant in oil and not running hot). The PO pulled the engine and did the top and bottom end seals several years ago - so I thought I wouldn't need to worry about gaskets for a while. Guess that was not the case.

David is retired and hung up his wrench, but always has said very good things about Musante. You can contact David at "David Lloyd" <david@928central.com>. He does not have a 928 currently but we are working on his to rejoin the fold. I do not have any first hand experience with them.

I send my track car to Musante for dyno work and tuning. I started going there because of Dave Lloyd and stayed with them after he left. Chris is a great guy and I enjoy working with him. Occasionally my project list overwhelms my available free time and I'll send the car over there for general wrenching. They just swapped out springs and shocks then did a corner balance and alignment for me. I have never had a disappointing experience there.

All I have heard were positive comments regarding Musante Motosports also.I will be there in a couple of weeks to dyno tune the Hanson car and will find out for myself and let you know how I make out. I'm feeling pretty confident though after my conversations with David Lloyd about them.

Time flies, some years ago I would stop by and say hello to Dave at Musante when I was in the area, they had a busy shop with a lot of 911 variants especially gt variety, they had 928's for customers also. A cooperative emissions inspection station a hundred yards north of them.
Very good location as far as access from highways. Back then there were a couple of seminars held there too. One was on the auto tranny run by Steve Cattaneo with a nice little pamphlet.

Chuck,
I do not have David's old race car (I think that is his green one). I do however have a red 1990 S4 and a 1991 black GT. I saw David at Tass's place this year.
