Help with pricing an '87 924s
Hi,
I currently have the engine from the 968 that I am parting up on Ebay for $3200. I have an offer from a local buyer to trade his '87 924 for the motor. Here is his description of the 924 from his Craigslist ad:
"Up for sales is a 87 Porsche 924s 83660 miles 5 speed transmission, rebuild motor 20 miles on it , the car runs great and shifts great. The interior is in good conditions 8.5 out of 10 , there are a few dents and scratches but only if u look for them the paint is shiny a 8 out of 10the tires are great 90 to 95% left on them. I have recites for all new parts valves , heater valve , seals ,gaskets and more like $1100 in new parts, would trade for a motorcycle or an plow truck and cash let me know what u have , $6000 or best offer . If u need more ictures let me know book value is $7000 nada.com."
I don't have any pictures yet, but I will post them when I get them. Assuming the car is as described (I wouldn't accept a trade without checking out the mechanicals and VIN history on the car) what would be a reasonable price estimate for the car. Most likely I would be selling the car if I made the trade. I'm not up on 924 values, but my first impression is that his valuation is wildly optimistic. I'd greatly appreciate anyone's opinion on the offer.
