Default 928 Motorsports Experiences

I couldn't find the thread about the noisy suspension that appeared after installing the 928 Motorsports Adjustable Rear Sway Bar Mounts with Tie Down Hooks.

Just wanted to say, that I have had these on my car for a couple of years with no issues or noises of any kind.

However, I did replace the Rear Sway Bar and Bushings at the same time, because I found that the old bar was pretty much frozen in the bushings.

When I think about it, I can see where old and stuck bushings could cause a lot of noise.

If anybody knows the thread I'm talking about, maybe you could pass the information to the guy having trouble. Maybe a new pair of bushings will make the noise go away.

And feel free to add your own experiences with 928 Motorsports to this thread.

Although I have purchased many parts from them over the years, I'm planning on buying some rather expensive products in the future and would love to hear input on all the other parts that he sells.

The noise is not up at the swaybar bushings...it's down at the lower control arm. We can detach the swaybar from the lower mount and still get the creaking which we believe is due to the bracket "locking" the LCA inside pivot to the shock pin, but we haven't yet resolved this fully. A number of people have seen this issue, a number have not.

Bummer, bushings were just a thought.

Was hoping it would be a cheap solution for him.

I know how noises can drive a person crazy.

One of my buddies EX girlfreinds slipped a couple of BBs between the door glass. The vibrating and rolling sound in the door drove him crazy until he took it apart and found them.

Thanks for the link.

I'll follow it to see what the outcome is.

In Dec 07 I purchased his coil over "kit".

I got the kit and tried to fit a number of pieces together. The upper spring hats/perches would not fit over the spring. When I contacted him he wanted me to pay out of my pocket to have a local machinist mill them out. I refused and a replacement set were sent. Once I got them, I installed everything. The front end ride height was around 2.5" too high. Lets just say that I had to take the kit in and out many many times. In the end, he sent me a 2.25" ID spring and I only found this out after taking them out! I called and informed him. He said he knew and he wanted me to take a grinder or hacksaw and cut the majority of the adjustment sleeve off the shock and turn the adjustment perch upside down! I gave up on him at that time and found a replacement spring in a length that would work.
One of the rear upper hats has not been made properly as well, so I have an annoying clunk on the back passenger side from that.

I did get a couple other small bits off him, but I found the same thing with most of his products, they were about 90% complete. But the last 10% you had to do on your own.
With the fact that his "Koni Koolers" are off the shelf parts from a company in the USA, and that you can buy all the parts needed (with better upper perches) for $1k I dont see the point in buying any more of his "kits"

Here's my experience. Absolute WORST experience I have ever had! They guy refused to refund my money for obviously defective parts.

Simply put I would rather shoot myself in the face than deal with his company again. I have never caught a person lie so much.

I have only ordered one thing form him and my experience with him was buying his book. The shipping was quick, the book was as you would expect a book to be. It had a cover, nice pictures and some words. It was also autographed by him, at least that is how it looks to be, I don't think it was a stamp. Overall, my experience with him on the book purchase was fantastic.

I would not hesitate to purchase another book from him again.

The only time I purchased from 928 Motorsports was a set of aluminium rack bushes for a customer in Finland who wanted them added to a large shipment I was putting together. I ordered on line and paid full price for shipping to me.
The next morning I received a voice message from a gentleman called Carl who said he wanted to know what application the rack bushings were for. I called him back and said that they were for a 928 – DUH! - and he said he was unsure if he wanted to supply me as I was probably going to copy them. I said that is not the case and explained that they were for an overseas customer and that I was not charging any extra for the supply of the parts as it was just a service to help the customer out. I also added, that if I wanted to copy a set of rack bushings, the last thing I would have done was order them from him at his exorbitant prices. All I had to do was ask my daughter to measure the ones in one of the many racks I had in the workshop – not exactly rocket science. He said he did not believe me and said he was refusing to supply the bushings and would refund my payment. No he did not ask for a restocking fee 8>). I told him that if he would not supply me then I had no option but to make my own.
The rest is history. Sad Sad !

I remember that day Rog, there were quite a few people in the office when the conversation went on.

I bought a silicon vacuum hose "kit" from Carl for my 78. There wasn't enough of one of the smallest sizes. I called and explained this to Carl but he insisted that this was impossible. I explained that it was NOT impossible and that it indeed was true. He disagreed. I asked if I could purchase a couple of feet of the size I needed to complete my project. He said that this request was impossible because he doesn't actually make them himself but has someone else make them up for him. This seems strange. Why would he not stock a few rolls of silicon vacuum tubing and make these "kits" as needed? As a vendor, why did he not offer to get ahold of a few feet of this tubing that I needed, especially since I was an unsatisfied customer and willing to pay to correct his mistake.

I tried buying once again from 928 Motorsports. I purchased a pair of the "protection plates" for the early cars. They are supposed to bolt up under the front of the car and protect the spoiler. These did not fit properly. I called Carl and once again, he says that it is impossible that they don't fit properly. I assured him once again that this was the case. I had to modify the shape of the parts to get them to fit properly.

I will never deal with Carl at 928 Motorsports again. In my opinion, he makes inferior products and has poor customer service.

I bought a radiator for my S4 from them, but it was made by a supplier. Beautiful work, I did have to cut off the two fan tabs to make it work. No other issues, good response on the phone.
I now have some concerns about other items, but the Al expansion tank is next in line and if the same person does the fabrication, it should also be a work of art.
