I've ordered from him several times. shipments were prompt and accurate. Prices were high, but I am a poor man. Carl has been helpful but sometimes cranky. I think this depends on his race schedule.I just try to deal with Gretchen his secretary,if possible. I'm just grateful that we have as many 928 suppliers as we have. Pop always says you catch more fly's with honey!

Carl has a good track record with me.

I started with a super charger kit that he offered on Ebay. Before I even installed it I contacted Carl and upgraded to the intercooled version. The kit was very comprehensive, the manual was very well written and the install went very smoothly in my 79' track car.

After my positive experience with the supercharger, I ordered a 4.5L short block and sent my heads to be installed on it before shipping. The engine runs great and while I don't have any track miles on it yet it has been through a few dyno sessions and some street miles.

I also have the rear drop link / tie down kit installed and to date have not experienced any noise, but I'm watching that thread to see what develops.
Customer service and follow up has been just fine. My emails seem to get answered in the same day and my calls get answered within minutes. Carl was available to talk with my dyno guy and was very helpful in getting my track car tuned.

The stuff I buy from Carl is marketed to a very small audience so I'm appreciative that there is even a vendor willing to develop these items. If he designs and builds something, tries it on his own car and it works well, then that is enough R&D for me. I can see and understand how the item works and if I want it, I'll buy it.

To Carl and everyone else that may be developing new products and ideas,
THANK YOU AND KEEP IT UP !

I've gotten the rear sway bar adjuster/tie down brackets and the adapters for 2.5" springs from Carl. Some kinks but acceptable enough. On the car and doing what they should.
Spring adjuster pic and post
Will do business with again.

So, comments for only 4 or 5 products out of all that he sells.

One of my first purchases from him more than a few years back, was the SC kit. The parts did fit and it went together pretty smoothly. Results were as expected.

However, as I go through my major Spring project, I would like to get more flow out of the SC.

Has anybody upgraded the BD-11A, that comes with his kit, with the billet impeller? If so, how much better did it flow? Before and after residual boost numbers?

And I might as well ask if anybody has done the TecGT upgrade?

If you think his prices are high..... Try to find a new engine harness for your 928! Carl is the MAN and if you treat him with respect he will do the same. I have spent some coin with 928 MS and it has always been $ well spent!!!

I have got his ball cup upgrade, his skid plate things, and solid rack mounts. No complaints.

I think both parties, the 928 community and Carl/928M, need to meet in the middle with this. It is obvious that Carl has a few basic issues that need to be addressed, and it is also obvious that he works hard and is providing a great service to the community.

Simply put, all of these issues and complaints are repairable with a simple attitude adjustment. Carl, listen to the customers; it is very apparent by this thread that some have had simple complaints that have not been addressed as they should (and could) have been. A few dollars here-and-there to make a customer happy greatly offsets bad PR from people complaining on public boards. I know personally how much it sucks to admit a mistake and eat a few bucks, but it will show greater returns in the long run--fiscally and for your own happiness. I see I used "simple" three times in the first two sentences. It's that easy!

The business atmosphere has morphed dramatically with the internet. I think it is our responsibility, as vendors, to adapt as well. We all make mistakes--own up to them and let's move forward, because I hate seeing anyone's business hurt over an ego.

Overall, my experience with him on the book purchase was fantastic.

I would not hesitate to purchase another book from him again.

He has sent the wrong ones possibly, as the early and late cars have different contours.

I have one comment to put on here. I do feel uneasy about what could be a very heated pile-on, but anyway...

You can go to the beach, and **** in the ocean, and it simply will not matter.

But if you want to bath in a bucket, and you **** in that - its not going to work out very well for you.

Mark,

I have only seen in all my time here only one person who demanded more than they should have.
Other than that, I for one feel that the fine people on this board are more than willing to bend a little.

During my transaction with Carl regarding the coil over kit I purchased, I remained respectful and polite. But when I asked for the problem to be corrected properly, I was met with a solid "No". The amount of times that I had to take the suspension in and out was unacceptable.

When you factor that any Joe blow can purchase the pieces to make his Koni coil over kit for $1000 (all pieces brand new), or $800 with used springs. Then when he is doing say a bulk purchase of parts he should be able to get the costs down to around $900 for the parts. That is a massive mark up which should cover enough R&D to ensure that the "kit" fits perfectly. I was never offered a satisfactory response and because of the time that it took to get to him telling me to just "cut some of the adjustment sleeve off" it was too late to take other actions. I then did my own research and solved it on my own with only having to take the front springs out one more time.

If I was paying practically nothing above, or regular retail prices on the parts. I would have less of a grievance with this. Does that make sense?

My future Father in-law had Carl rebuild his Powerdyne BD-11A supercharger for his Escalade. The race rebuild with the better bearings was provided, but one bearing had a defect and failed. Carl gladly took it back to rebuild it again and it has not caused any problems since. The supercharger has 10,000 miles on it now. Although I wasn't the one that directly provided him the business (but rather a referral), I intend to do business with Carl for my car. He's very responsive through emails and has answered numerous questions I had for him about his products.

Come to think of it, the only people I really do business with now are Carl, Roger, and Mark.

ya know hasn't anyone figured out in this forum that everyone has different experiences with vendors over time? Some good..some bad..some indifferent..some the customers fault..some the vendors fault...some the shipping company's fault etc etc. It happens but i swear it gets like a little hissy cat fight here sometimes.

Why air it all here? It gets no where.

it gets old after you've been here for a while, sorry.

Mongo,

Good to know he stood behind the racing rebuild.
Your future Father in Law didn't get the billet impeller by chance did he?
