Default My White on White 86.5 FOR SALE - SOLD 5/21/11

SOLD 5/21/11

I've placed a deposit on a 5-speed 928 and now must find a good home for my 86.5. After owning this car for eleven years, it is my hope and desire that she will be purchased by another Porsche 928 enthusiast who will love and appreciate her for the gem that she is.
I am legitimately sad to see this car go....even if I am replacing it with another 928.
I plan to place the car onto Ebay this Sunday evening. Like I said...I prefer it goes to an enthusiast, I'm hoping someone here may be interested.

I'm asking $4,750.

I've pasted the majority of my ebay sale description below, since I already have it prepared. I had my "Used Cars" car sales hat on when I wrote this....I don't want any snide remarks....even though I like to hand them out myself sometimes.

There are a few more photos in my gallery here: https://rennlist.com/forums/members/...-for-sale.html

*Please note (when viewing the photos), I have removed the MOMO steering wheel and replaced it with the original steering wheel. The MOMO steering wheel will not be included.

* 1986 ½ PORSCHE 928 S *

Exterior: Grand Prix White
Interior: Rare Pearlescent white leather (interior option code LG4).

This Porsche 928 S has a mid-mounted, four-speed, automatic transmission and an eight cylinder, 32-valve, 5.0 liter engine (the largest and best engine in the “original” 928 body style).

* PLEASE NOTE: The ’86 ½ MID-YEAR model (only VIN#’s with chassis # 1000 and OVER) came with upgrades to the brakes and suspension, providing this car with the wonderful styling of the original 928 S AND the larger BREMBO brakes and improved suspension of the 928 S4 model! For this reason, the ’86 ½ 928 S is widely acknowledged among 928 aficionados to be highly collectible. Please note that this vehicle also has the very desirable (and uncommonly found) deleted side molding option!

This ‘86 ½ 928 S is additionally equipped with a very rare Porsche factory option, special order, leather interior in Pearlescent white (Porsche interior option code LG4). I have never seen another 928 of ANY year with this interior/exterior color combination. Please see the photos. Although the leather is showing signs of wear, it is still a striking color combination.

* Vehicle amenities: Automatic Transmission, Power Sunroof, Power Steering, AM/FM Radio, Rear Window Defroster, Anti-Lock Brakes, Leather Seats, Power Door Locks, Power Windows, 8-way Power Seats, Tilt Wheel, Air Conditioning (not working) and the special REAR A/C option, plus a Porsche Factory Alarm. Original Porsche Factory tool kit is COMPLETE!

* OVER $7000 worth of ADDITIONAL FEATURES and UPGRADES have been installed on this Porsche since 2000:

1) The original 16” wheels have been upgraded with FAT and WIDE 17”x 9.5” (front) and 17” x 11” (rear) Kinesis K57 3- piece, SUPER lightweight wheels ($3,500). The combination of larger size and lighter weight provides improved acceleration, breaking, and handling along with an incredibly wide and aggressive footprint. FYI: These wheels could use a good cleaning. The front tires are BRAND NEW. The rear tires have approx. 40% tread.

2) The rear muffler has been replaced with a 928 Specialists Rear Muffler Bypass (RMB) that provides an appropriately exotic exhaust note AND an additional 10 RWHP ($200). This is a MUST HAVE addition to any 928. (Original rear muffler will also be included, *if requested.)

3) Original stereo has been upgraded with an Eclipse 5120 CD head unit w/remote control, SIX MB Quartz speakers, an 8” JBL subwoofer, and a JL Audio amp. (CD player portion is not currently working). System installed in 2001 at a cost of $2500.

4) This car has also been equipped with the AUTOTHORITY CHIPSET, providing an extra 20 RWHP and an extra 30 ft./lbs. of Torque! ($425). https://www.928gt.com/ps-13-33-85-86...ip-set-us.aspx The original chips will also be included with the vehicle.

5) The original shift **** has been upgraded to a Jager Engineering Full Leather GT Shifter ($189). http://www.jageng.com/garage9/produc...roducts_id=205

6) The original, old style, chrome ringed headlights have been replaced with the newer style H5 headlights as found on the later model 928’s (S4 and up) ($375).

* PORSCHE FACTORY OPTION CODES: C02, 018, 158, 319, 490, 494, 533, 570, 650

* The Original Owners Manual is included. The Original Porsche tool kit is COMPLETE!

I have over $17,000 in service receipts for this vehicle. I acquired this handcrafted German supercar from my uncle in 2000 with a mere 55,000 miles on the clock. She has been my reliable daily driver for over ten years and has been a single family car since 1992!

* Transmission was resealed at 190,000 miles!

* New shocks installed in April of 2008!

* Timing Belt and Water Pump were replaced at 212,000 miles!

* New battery installed Feb. 2009!

* New spark plugs, distributor caps, and rotors installed April 2009!

* New rear hatch latch AND receiver replaced in late 2010...shuts nice and tightly...no rattles here!

* Fresh Oil Change just performed May 2011!

* New Oxygen sensor just installed May 2011!

* Brand new CARB approved catalytic convertor JUST installed in May 2011! (at a cost of over $1000)

* Just PASSED the CA. state smog inspection, May 2011!

* Over $17,000 worth of SERVICE receipts on file (dating back to Dec. 2000)!

After approximately 230,000 miles she is now beginning to show signs of wear and tear appropriate for her age and miles.
The mileage is approximate as the odometer stopped working about two months ago.
The Coolant level sensor is broken. No leaks, car runs cool…just the level sensor that tells you if the level gets too low.
The front drivers side quarter panel has been replaced with a color-matched used panel, due to a very low speed collision with a horizontal pole that cut into the soft aluminum. She still looks great….please see the photos. There is NO frame damage to this clean titled, California car.
The driver’s seat bolster has a deep tear (don’t they all?). The dash has some cracks (see photos).
The passenger side view mirror has a small chip.
The A/C system does not currently blow cold air. The A/C compressor may need to be resealed(?).
The cruise control is not currently working.

Sometimes requires a little gas to hold idle on the first cold start-up of the day, but starts, runs and idles perfectly and smoothly once warm. EDIT: Thanks to a suggestion...it seems a little Lucas Injector Cleaner and only about 50 miles to run a bit through has solved this issue.

I can assure you she is still in better shape than many lower mileage examples that have been abused, neglected, or just plain not driven.

BOTTOM LINE: This is a clean titled, wonderfully running, freshly smogged, highly upgraded, ’86 ½ 928S that is ready and willing to please her next owner for many years to come.

This is my reliable DAILY DRIVER.

I am only reason I am selling it is to acquire the funds to purchase a certain 1989 928GT from another enthusiast.
I wish I could afford to keep this car AND buy the new one, but I can’t. It is my hope and desire that this 928 goes to a Porsche 928 enthusiast.

Ask any 928 expert and they will tell you that these cars must be driven to stay in good running order. The fact that this car has the mileage it does is merely a testament to how reliable this vehicle has been.

In fact, I challenge you to first look at a few other 928’s in this price range and THEN come and see this one. I’m certain that this is the 928 that you’ll buy. My mechanic likes this car so much, even HE wants to buy it from me.

VEHICLE SOLD AS-IS, WHERE-IS.

* California residents, please note that the car has just passed the state smog inspection and will come with a clean smog certificate for an easy and smooth title transfer.

SHIPPING: I will make myself available as needed to meet you and/or your shipper.

I see we have a few Little Lebowski Urban Acheivers among us.
The Dude (Bridges) actually lives not too far from me...even closer to rennlister Bronto.

Yes, the white on white definitely ties the car together.

....Also, I'm keeping the plates.

I forgot to mention...I even installed the Boothe Designs center caps (the ones that use the actual hood crest) on those wheels.

Nice.

Reminds me of my white rubstrip delete '85 auto. Loved that car. GLWS.

Don't think you'll have any trouble selling her. I love the black/white interior combination, i will have to re-do my interior soon enough....i absolutely see this look for mine..when the time comes.
