A third and new bidder entered the pic this AM with their first bid at 9.1K.

Once the bidding went above 5K there were only two bidders. Curious to see if this goes to 10K

Huh! Worth it to at least 2 people.....

The question for the 3rd bidder would be; why not snipe it as opposed to showing your hand with such little time left?

Wow. That is a gorgeous 82! I usually don't like Guards Red, but that one is hot. The black interior looks great, too.

Naww, its the reaction to a premium price on an adulterated vehicle.

This one needs more information and presumeably any legitimate bidder had it beforehand.

Besides being incomplete inside, this has mileage descrepancy that would need resolution.

Dealer history wash don't cut it.
But it could be historic, maybe the ray blanton car, or the jake butcher car, or...

Seriously guys, are we not supposed to be 928 fans here???

$5k - $6k this car wouldn't have generated a thread. OMG.....$3k more it must be a scam..........!!!!!!

Again - assuming it's 100% - this car is far more rare than a 65-67 Corvette Big Block that would easily sell for five times this amount for a 7/10 version.
I'll keep on saying it, these early cars in good condition are getting harder and harder to find. They are by far the exception, not the rule IMHO.
Now this one may not be the earlist example, nor does it appear to have the "enthusiast options" we tend to like (5sp, no rub strips), it's looks to be a well put together RED 928. What's not to like?
Over the next 5 years, as the market improves, and the 928 cult following continues to grow... these early, clean, mid-mile examples will be pulling $8-12K. Add $3K for lower miles <30K. Add infinitum for <10K miles.

And its still for sale.
Sure wish you'd popped in with it before your well-intentioned but wrongly directed cleanup. My guess is it was better than this one, and this one looks pretty darn good, just needs more info.
