$525 to replace a seatbelt? Does this sound right?

try giving it a good blast of compressed air first and see if its just something thats fallen in the "gears" might be the cheapest fix you ever had.

Three hours is right about what I'd charge for it. Not a fun job.

I recall that when R&R'ing my interior quarter panels... the second one took about half as long as the first one did. YMMV
You definitely can do this yourself... why pay a shop to learn how?

Agreed, this is not rocket science, just kind of a PITA. I did this job, wasn't fun, but wasn't $500 either. Take a few hours, do it yourself and then have a well deserved adult beverage.

This is Michael @ Formula Motorsports. I would like to thank those of you who actually looked up pricing of a OEM seatbelt mechanism and concluded that the price was accurate. And those of you who actually did the job and it took better than 3 hours. Each car is different and the condition makes all of the diffference. It is reasonable that one car may take 1 hour and another 5 hours dependant upon the condition of the panels and hardware needed. In conclusion I thank you for your educated response.

It took 9 months to make the decision to DIY or PSTDI (pay someone to do it)?
Sounds like not much passenger seat use to me...

LOL
Funny people around here. I would charge more than that if I had a customer car because they will be the most annoying and picky to satisfy, and any speck or scratch you make will be an excuse to attempt to nickel and dime you down. Heck, double the labor rate just because the job is on the interior and a PITA. I had to fix my retractor and it sucks; pulling the panels without bending them (and creasing the leather), reinstalling the correct fasteners and not scratching or bending the panels when you are putting them back in. Working around the seat (unless you want to take that out also) . Ya big PITA. Try the compressed air first.
