If I'm working on another person's car, I use my spare LH and EZK which have PEMs installed and are verified to work. Just makes things so much easier. Then when I'm done, I'll burn a chip for them.
Who's STer is this? Is this the rental STer?

The problem is that whatever is causing the PEM to not load, will probably also prevent the ST2 from communicating with the LH once loaded. Putting the PEM back in Jeff's LH and trying it in another car (and loading the PEM) will answer that question.

OK, I'll check the pinout pattern for the diagnostic connector.

Jeff, Bill,
OK, first the good news: The LH arrived just after lunch, Sharktuner couldn't find the PEM but Sue found it in the shipping carton. Popped the LH open and installed it, hooked it up to our 88S4 and viola! It all worked! I loaded a new LH bin-file into the PEM, ran the car for a while, downloaded from PEM's back to Sharktuner, that worked, ran the car for a while, everything looks happy.
So the LH is fine, and whatever that funny PCB is, is also fine, and the PEM is loaded with a stock bin-file.
The bad news of course is that the problem lies elsewhere...
Good plan, Bill. I would also buzz out the K and L buses with a multimeter, make sure they are connected where they should be, and not shorted to ground. The K-bus is pin 10 on the diagnostic connector, which goes to pin 1 on the EZK and pin 12 on the LH. The L-bus goes from pin 12 on the diagnostic connector to pin 7 on the EZK and pin 16 on the LH. I don't think they go anywhere else, for an '87-88 car.
It could also be the EZK, shorting or otherwise interfering with the K or L bus. I can send a spare EZK for testing if that would help.
Good hunting!!

Thanks kids!
I will _very_ much miss Y'all on the 7th, as I have a contract flight that weekend, so I'll be out.
We'll get cracking on the car on Sunday this weekend...only flying Saturday this weekend.

If the car starts correcly with the stock EPROM fiited in place of the PEM then your LH doesn't have basic tile failure.
That replacement tile shown in your picture should be OK with the SharkTuner as far as I know. It was the tile replacement from Electronkrepair that was not.
Make sure the PEM is plugged in corectly, with pins correctly aligned. Then set up the ST and File>New and load an LH fuel map. Then you should be good !

Also, all new LH rebuilds from Electronik Repair are compatible with the SharkTuner system.

Rich Help Please!!
The LH module pictured in this thread was rebuilt by Fuel Injection Corp., not Electronik Repair. I have seen several of these Fuel Injection Corp. type rebuilds fail over the years for various reasons and they required a second rebuild.
Also, all new LH rebuilds from Electronik Repair are compatible with the SharkTuner system.

I reciently purchased a ST2. It works fine with the EZK, but fails on the LH. It turns out I have one of your repaired LH brains in my car thats not compatable. I was hoping to hit SITM this weekend and let a few people have a peek at my new supercharger setup
Can we do a quick exchange to your new version or something???
I am also open for suggestions if anyone has any. Anyone have an extra LH brain laying around...LOL

My repaired LH is past warranty.... So it's $350 for an upgrade on something that was left out during the repairs process then OUCH , but is included in repairs now. What, diagnostic tools were not available 6 years ago? How would the Porsche dealer plug into this car?
HMMM.... opinions???
