where to connect a phone charger / fuse box...?
I know it can be done, I have a iPhone and a Xoom tab that I want to be able to just connect when I get in the car, I dont want to go the crappy cigarrette lighter route, can I buy a inverter and connect this to the Fuse panel and draw power this way like the radio does, or even connect to the same line as the AMP and share use some of the power from that...?
thank you... not an double E grad, but I am a software engineering grad...Go Cardinal's/// if your a California guy... : )

Gray wire behind the CE panel is a staring point.
But for real, do you want it removable? do you want it powered on at all times?
Do you want it only in the run position?
Tell us what you want and how you want to do and some one here has done it, pretty sure of that.
They make things that take the place of a fuse that gives you a extra fused power point.
BTW, what is a Zoom tab?

I tapped the radio wiring for radar detector power when I did the swap to a later head unit. I did not want to disturb or damage any of the factory wiring, so I mahe an adapter harness that plugs into the factory radio plug. The iPhone and your tablet each take small current, so adding those loads would be no strain for the radio wiring. Another option is to tap the power and ground connections at the back end of the lighter socket. A couple small pigtails with male and female spade connectors let you tap there without any damage to the factory wiring. Put a separate fuse in between the lighter wires and your accessory wires, 2.5 or maybe 5 amp, to separately protect that small wire you'll use.
I make it a point not to go into the CE panel stuff unless absolutely necessary. Above all, stay far away from any installation that include the Scotchlock-style wiring taps. Some of the better fuse/taps are OK, but still seem like they are another place where damage to the socket can be done.

Did EE and CS, but not at Stanford. IIRC, most folks from there would say "Go Cardinal!"
