Not real. The 3M is simulated to look authentic. It is actually woven rather than being a cheap sticker.

I'm planning on wrapping min in Matte Black and if it works I;m going to hang out a shingle and do it as a side gig. I have all the supplies except my vinyl rolls. doing the interior in CF.

I guess the rice has reached the 928 crowd.

Sorry, maybe if Paul C did it then it would look nice, but short of that, it is going to scream rice in most 928's.
and heed the warnings about the "Hairs".

I'd like to see somebody do their dash while it's still in the car.
I'd buy that then.-not a big fan of carbon fiber.

Reading comprehension FAIL. Pretty sure it has been mentioned in this thread that each product discussed to this point is not real carbon fiber, but rather cloth or vinyl textured to produce the appearance of carbon fiber. There will be no loose strands, or "hairs", with any of these products. Carbon Fiber, like anything else, can be done tastefully or to the extreme. Ultimately, it is a matter of personal preference.

Do it yourself!

If you own a heat gun and a knife you can do it.

Doug, I am a bit mobility impaired so moving big stuff like the splitter around is difficult for me to do... If it were a smaller piece maybe so, but then the problem comes in buying the stuff...I certainly don't need a HUGE ROLL of it for $500! If there were smaller rolls that were fairly cheap, I think I'd give it a shot. I could probably set the splitter on the dining room table (or get my wife to put it there for me) and could get to it well enough to make this sort of thing happen...

This stuff strikes me a bit like wide ties. Maybe you don't remember, but there was a time when people thought they looked cool.

I used something similar on the 84 about 3 years ago. Trimming around the "P" "R" "N", etc of the auto shifter was probably the hardest part. All the other trim popped out and was pretty easy--the seat switches, door locks, glovebox... I think I used 3M super 77(?) Where I screwed up was putting a clearcoat over it to give it some sheen. In the Texas sun, that soon turned a little yellow...

Too bad you aren't local I would gladly wrap a splitter for you. I am going to wrap mine very soon.

Oh and you can get a piece roughly big enough (for my splitter anyway) for around $160.

I saw some Kraft brand canned spray-on cracker cheese at Biglots the other day. I was thinking about applying some of it on various parts of my interior as well. I think it would be a tasteful modification, and nothing says "fast" as loudly as spray-on cheese!

I may getting a roll depending on how my first wraps are. There are places that do sell it in cut to order amounts. I see if I can dig up a website. If I get a roll soon I can sell you what you need off my roll. In fact if enough people want it I'll buy the roll from a distributor and sell folks what they need. Oracal is expensive for CF its about 1,900 a roll. 3M is less.
