85/86 Tubular Exhaust Manifolds on an OB

I thought 85/86 was some category of stainless, at least for the tubes if not the flanges. Is it just aluminized? I don't know whether the spray high heat has gotten better over the years, but I think that is tough surface to get well prepped. I would think powder coating is about it?
