Hello again everyone. I'd like to offer an update/explanation about why we put all of our cars up for sale over the last few weeks. After 23 years with the same company I now find myself unexpectedly unemployed. The company has been undergoing some drastic changes implemented by senior management mainly to reduce costs. I believe the initiatives being implemented are extremely short sighted in order to deflect examination away from them and are not sustainable. Ultimately, they couldn't give any substantive reason for our seperation and at this point it is what it is. I was given a very generous package and as a result, I have decided to take the next few months off to do some things around the house and get my head right. During those 23 years, I have NEVER used all the vacation time alloted me and when I was on vacation I would always work..... I need a break!
My wife and I decided to sell the majority of our toys and over the last 2 weeks I have sold our Panamera 4S (3 days to sell - its on its way to Monaco to be at the summer home of a VERY wealthy Russian), Targa 4S (4 days to sell) and the Range Rover Sport SC (1 week to sell) and actually came out extremely favorable on every one of them. Last week we purchased a BMW Alpina B7 and also decided to keep the GTS.
I want to say a special thank you to Sterling who agreed to look at an M5 we were considering but ultimately never worked out (I'm actually glad b/c the B7 is MUCH nicer!).
So, all is well, I am blessed and extremely fortunate at this point in my life and couldn't be happier about the situation.
I have told friends and former co-workers that I almost feel bad about not feeling bad!

Fantastic news Chuck. And glad that life has given you a special blessing of a "pause" to consider.
I'm sure the right opportunity will come at the right time... Enjoy the time you've been given in this circumstance. You may find that times like these are few and far between (I've had two and been blessed immeasurably by the differences it made at home).
SITM 2011?

Thanks Chuck - Not that you owed any of us an explanation, but it is nice to know what's going on...this is a pretty tight-knit community after all and I know people were hoping everything was alright after we saw your fleet was for sale. Best wishes for you and your family! Take care - Jarrod

I'm sorry to hear about the separation from your employer, but sometimes this is a good thing.
I was laid-off twice within the last 12 months. While I was looking for new work, I got to work on interesting and challenging projects, or took time off. The new jobs that followed came with significant pay raises that I would never have gotten at the previous jobs. Granted - being employed consistently would have been easier, I would say I learned more and had more fun. And got my eyes fixed, too!
So, enjoy the time off, and let us know when you get to San Francisco again. We have a great 928 owners group here and would love to get together!

Chuck,
I can totally relate! I hope your job search goes very well my friend and so glad you at least got a generous package as they ushered you out the door. It was exactly the same for me 2 years ago when GSK showed me the door. Over 21 years with them...really felt like a kick in the groin. But ultimately I can't complain and have been able to do some really cool things for me and for the 928 owners in general and the 928 Owners Club in particular.
All the best to you my friend!!! Like the others here, I am SO GLAD to see you keeping the GTS and btw, the B7's ROCK! My dad's best friend has one! SUPER COOL!

Hey Chuck, It's great to hear things are good with you--we are a tight community and even though we've never met, I was worried. I'm also ecstatic that you decided to keep the GTS. As i'm in Charlotte, maybe that means when you finally do decide to part ways with it, I'll be inn a better position to take it off your hands!
Best of luck with the relaxing!!!!!

Chuck,
Sorry to hear about your job but I'm glad you and yours are fine. Love your car and was honored to be parked next to you at SITM.
I hope you won't mind seeing a Strosek in the same midnight blue sometime in the future!
Best of luck!

Thanks guys (Nicole, you are affectionately included in the "guys" reference of course!) for all the kind words; it IS what I really love about this community! I knew you guys would be supportive once I got to the point where I could talk about it. It means a tremendous amount to me personally. I truly believe that everything in this life happens for a reason. Best to all. C

Glad you are still here, sorry about the job. Lots of companies have done really stupid short sighted things recently in the name of controlling costs...
