Default MY 1980 S Spoilers or Not

To S or not to S...

I am beginning to appreciate the spoiler-less look after seeing some really nice member cars on the forum. I also spent time with Jeff (jjbyron) and his sweet, unmolested 79 today.

Car is about to go to paint. Should I fill the existing front spoiler holes or add a rear spoiler and go for the S look? Thanks.

Adding the rear S spoiler means different rear window moldings/trim. I'm liking the clean non-spoilered look of the OB anyway.

So my vote was "shaved".

Every car starting in 1982 and up has spoilers so be different!.....I really like the clean look. My son's 1980 will have no spoilers added.

But its your car so go with what you think looks good.

Default spoilerless

At first I was bummed that my car didn't have spoilers. Being an '80
Now I am really pleased that I don't. It almost appears to be more modern
that having something black and bolted on.
Just my opinion

I like the the OB and it's lines, performance etc. I have had more than a few people saying they like the non-spoiler look.

That is why I have gone thru so many combinations of way's to build the performance of my car and I've decided to build upon my 4.5L block! It is just the way she was born and that is good enough for me!

Does anyone have a spoiler-less car with Cup 1 (C2 Turbo) wheels with pictures they would like to share? These are what I have for my car (I don't even own phonies/car came with S4 staggered, polished flat dish/do not like). Aesthetically, I always thought the early cars (non-S) look best with phone dials and look a little off with more modern wheels. I am not sure what it is about the spoiler that seem to make more modern wheels work for me. However, today I spent time with a 79 with 17 inch twists and thought the car carried them well.

Bob, I have the spoiler and assorted pieces for the rear addition, but am warming up to the idea of not having to buy a new front spoiler (sorely needed) and dealing with the durability issues going forward (read: LA roads suck).

Me too Stephen. That would be the best of all worlds. Jim, can you hear the cries?

I really fell for the no spoiler look. As Vanster says, it makes the car look more modern. Gary Knox has a beautiful GTS w/o the spoiler. Here's mine (a 78):

It also means "S" quarter window seals (with the flaps and the different channeling for the trim) and "S" quarter window trim.
