Default Slalom circuit bad for your car?

I subscribed for a slalom day on the circuit next weekend. Isn't that really bad for your car? Won't my engine start to leak or my gearbox brake? I was thinking I should use 'mountain mode 2' for best throttle response, but is 'D' better for the gearbox?

To give you an idea, this is from 2 years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6FIswZirrc

Any extreme kind of driving has the potential to break things that were on the brink of breaking before. However, if your car is well maintained and your engine is not leaking now, it's rather unlikely it will start leaking from slalom.

But you should make sure there is plenty of oil in the pan (max level), so you don't get any oil starvation during cornering.

In regards to the transmission, use the most appropriate gear for the speed. "2" sounds about right for the kind of course shown in the video. However, your car will likely start in 1st gear; you may have to go to 3 and then quickly back to 2 to get and keep it in 2nd. You should try this before the competition.

That is only a minute and 1/2 of driving....I have HOURS and HOURS on the old very brown 1980. Your car will be just fine. Also note that the car in the video is in the wrong gear most of the time it needs way more RPM to maximize the horsepower.

I thought you were supposed to maximize the torque.

put it in first and stay there,
to do that put the shifter all the way back and drive slow and stop it will shift into 1st and stay there.
your not generating near the torque of a higher RPM.
Cool video though

Thanks man.

I did the track in 'mountain mode 2' by the way, as was suggested. Was quite helpful for braking too.

while maximum torque accelerates the quickest in a given gear, max horsepower in a LOWER gear equates to MORE torque and faster acceleration.....when in doubt downshift it also gives more engine braking...
