Default new cayman wheels on 928

Hi, just got my new set of wheels for the shark.
It really made a difference....

here are some pics...

BTW, I have a question.
It is a 1985 928, that came with the 21mm spacer. I tried the wheels with the spacers on but they rubbed, so I took them off and problem solved. BUT, it came withe the long studs, so I could not use the original covered nuts fo the rear wheels...had to use a set of open end nuts...and the studs are very o0ng so they don't look pretty.
As I see, I have a couple of options.....
- Use thes nuts an on top of then use the original Porsche nuts (that covers the stud, but it still looks not quite right)
- Get a 10 mmm spacer and hope the wheels don't rub and the original nut will cover the stud.....(too many hopes....)
- Change the studs for shorter ones (but I don't want to disassemble the hubs..)
- Just go ahead and chop the excess stud (.....not really my way of solving things....)

Any input is appreciated

(by the way, I'm fron Chile, so getting pieces for my shark is not that easy over here...)

Cheers

Nando

PS I know I'm missing a center hub in the rear....It's on the way.......

Use the long boothe wheelnuts, also sold by Pelicanparts, they are 11mm
longer then oem,so with a 10mm hubcentric spacer it works fine.

That looks nice!

Did you import your US model into Chile?

if you post the offsets of the wheels and the tires you have it will be easier to make a proper diagnosis.

FYI if your tires are rubbing with the spacers it may be as simple as pulling on the fenders with some gloved hands to get the clearance you need and you can use the spacers

Here are the specs of the wheels..

Rims Size: 18 X 8.0" front & 18 X 9.0" rear
Offset: 57 mm front & 43 mm rear

tires:
225/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear

Nicole..the car was imported by a previous owner, I think in 1994....
I'm third owner in Chile

I tried to pull the fenders out a little, even did the trick I saw once on video with some kind of electrical tubing, but it still rubbed....so I decided to play it safe and took the spacers out.

thanks for the answers..

cheers

Nando,
You need to get familiar with the vendors here. (Rennlist that is)
Can't be that much of a problem to ship to Chile.
I could be wrong, but ....
If you're anywhere near Santiago, I do have an old friend who lives there......
Nice car BTW.
Best,

with that rear offset you will have to either put thinner spacers on or remove them .
Note stock rear offset is ET65 the lower the number the further out the edge of the rim will be

Resurrecting this thread as I'm looking at these Cayman rims with these offsets - 18 X 8.0" front & 18 X 9.0" rear; Offset: 57 mm front & 43 mm rear
Is anyone else running these ? And, does the 86.5 have the rear spacers ? Guess I should know but I haven't gotten their yet.

The OP was running tires of 225/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear.

Thoughts ?
