Krylon rebuild....seen so many "muscle cars" where they just rattle can the engine so it LOOKS fresh in the photos.....put a bunch of silicon on everything else and you have a "new" engine. I mean if it looks good it MUST be good. Is this a decent car ..who knows clearly the guy selling it has no clue or believes all his own B S . That said it would have to be a very, very nice car to pull 10 grand in this economy. I would have much rather had the 1990 with under 90,000 mi for under 10 K in the L A craigs list even though it was an automatic.....still twice the car. And frankly I highly doubt that this car will down shift into second all that well....if so it is about the only early 928 with any miles on it which will !

Stephen, it puts you as someone who is willing to learn, and because of your willingness to learn you are going to have a nice, a really nice OB, and one that will out run most NA cars here.

I can not say here what I think of this guy, that post he made just got under my skin, his is perfect, with nothing but some spray paint and old invoices.

He wont last long here, you have all ready shown that you are the kind of person who is suited to owning a 928 and is willing to learn as you go.

I am still shocked at how well your car goes, that little blue car will flat go.

Sorry if I have offended any one but the OP.

When he first posted here I sent him a PM saying to listen to the guys that really know 928's, that seems to not have done much.

And Hacker may be in either KY or FL, if he is in FL he may be wishing he had some KY while he is trying to defend himself from a 6 foot mouse.

Hell, I didn't even post much on this thread until he insinuated something towards me. Not worried at all though, by his "Texas Redneck" comment, it's obvious he has nothing else to come back with, and is not really worth more of my time, except to make fun of.

If I were to make a casual comment on the car he is trying to sell. He has done NOTHING except make it look purty by painting/cleaning polishing it. It might be a nice car, hell, it might be a GREAT car, but no one will ever know due to the amount of stupid that has been dumped on it by this owner.

He needs to stick with cleaning up Nismo's wanna be cars.

Like James B say's. You are 10 grand from a 5K car!

I stopped keeping track of the money I have spent on mine. It has been flowing lately.

Can't wait to spend thousands more to get her where I think she needs to be and it will still be worth nada, but to me she will be priceless!

Well, that is just a TX rednecks view, I think he has taken about half of the little value the car had to start with out of it.

In my humble little opinion, the car would show much better without
- the bra
- the stickers on the hood and above the door handles
- the CDs stuck between dash and console
- the container that's taped to the dashboard
- that ugly steering wheel cover (get a proper kit for this steering wheel)
- that strange box (refrigerator?) and spare-tire-in-a-pouch in the trunk

and with the trim around the windshield and rear windows restored to matte black.

PS: Just saw three pics of the car without stickers and bra - much, much better!

I'd replace the timing belt covers and the fan blade and any other painted accessory.
Black OEM wires.
Ensure steel lower ball joints carriers.
Have a porsche-knowledgeable shop PPI it in anticipation of buyer doing the same and address any issues.

Ditch the 31 year, look at all my records, a NY politician owned it schtick.
Separate out and highlight any important maintenance: Clutch / Engine / Axles / Fuel system / Climate control.
Use a timeline.

Not sure how to fix the bottom. If the galvanization is breached by power wire brushing, you've got a real problem. If not, you might be able to strip it and redo, maybe just power wash it off. Maybe the collector has the resources to help bring it back to original?

Sean,
Aren't you actually from Kansas?
Gotta watch out for those Kansas rednecks(not that there's anything wrong with being a Kansas redneck)
But, it doesn't quite have the same ring to it, now does it?

Midwestern Rednecks only have red necks for 3 months of the year...

Good luck with the sale. I think you're going to need it. IMHO, all of Nicole's and Landseer's points about the presentation of the car are completely valid and you should take heed of them if you really want to sell the car. I would add that you should stop Armor-All'ing the seats and dash as well. They aren't supposed to be that shiny. Just trying to help.

And what you did to the underside was an unfortunate mistake, especially spraying all the suspension parts black.

Nicole - that refrigerator is a family-room-sized subwoofer. I would certainly lose that.
