Default 78 to 86 Clutch Release Bearing - 928 116 085 24

The release bearing for the pre 87 cars with the double clutch has become NLA = no longer available.

928sRus has remanufactured the original RB using old cores.
The housing is removed and the center shaft cut to release the old bearing. I was very surprised at the poor quality of the original bearing. A new center shaft is used to retain the exact measurements. A new high quality (high temperature) bearing inserted and the center shaft rolled to capture the bearing.

These are available in limited quantities at the moment due to lack of cores. The Release Bearing is $200 plus a $125 core charge for return of the old RB.

I still need cores and will pay $30 for each one.

I want to personally thank Rob Edwards for lending our machine shop his new Porsche RB for dimensional checks.

Dan,
I have not been able to find any - need to reuse the existing parts.

Excellent work Roger!

I will undoubtably be needing one in the future and do have a core.

What does Spec do for the bearings they supply in their kits?

$200 plus shipping

Reason for pricing?

No core return needed
It inlcudes the washer and the clip with the other part that holds it into place... can't get those anywhere....
I'll take it Sterling

Good you have these, for the customers in your "end of the world."

We also did this about 3 months ago, when we couldn't find any more new bearings, using Genuine Porsche "SKF" high load, high temperature bearings, of uber high quality.

They can be purchased through 928 International, for those of you, on the West Coast. Contact them, for pricing.

It's great that we can keep these cars going!

This has me looking at what I have sitting on a shelf:
A NOS T/O bearing with four washers (Sachs)
The number on this is 928 116 085 03 and I can't find much reference to this number.
I've always wondered what the correct application for this is. I'm guessing that it's been replaced with a redesigned unit (928 116 085 08). Is that right?
If so, what are the redesign's advantages?
Does this new bearing require a redesigned arm as well?

Hi Roger,

Do you still have those remanufactured clutch release bearings available? The price remains the same? Can you please explain me what is the “core charge”?
Thanks.

Regards

Hi Ricardo,
Yes we do - the core charge is refundable once you return the old TO Bearing so we can rebuild it.

Rob Edwards referred me to this thread.

Roger,

I have two cores if you need. One is jjbyron's and one is mine. I will send my core for shipping. I will send Jeff's for whatever he needs (Core/$/Shipping?) Michael

Note to self: start removing t/o bearings from 87+ pressure plates lying in a pile in the shed.

I assume these will be next on the NLA list.
