87 5SPD- tail light stop light on after carwash
I ran through a brushless wash today to knock some Winter off the shark.
I don;t think this shark likes water, because after that the Stop light came on as did the tail light. I got out and checked all the lights were on and worked. Drove the car for a while turned it off then back on and the dash lights didn't come back on.

my does that every so often, side marker light gets damp, if resistance is not same as other side warning light comes on, dry it out w/compressed air, or pull bulb and dry and works fine.

You could have a tail light that has separated from the housing (the translucent part separates from the black plastic). Check for a swimming pool in there. I had to replace a tail light because of this.

My '88 S4 does the same thing, usually with the same bulb.
The passenger side brake/tail light combo bulb gets wet and fails after a stint in the auto carwash thing. I just carry extra bulbs and replace it when it happens.
Its a PITA, but I really can't see what is causing the leak.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I have ran it through washes that were similar to hard rain showers and hand washed it with no troubles. This particular car wash was brush less, but the water was sprayed directly at the lights and at decent velocity. I did notice today that the dash lights only common for tail and stop lamps when the fog lamp switch is turned on.
Are the bulbs available from auto parts stores?
