Default What caliper

So starting to work on my 87 right rear bearing and CV axles, since the caliper will be loose I am going to rebuild them and put in new ceramic pads. But the rebuild kits for the rear show only a single piston and my rear is a four piston, so what model was this on?

My 87 right rear caliper, need a rebuild kit.

Rebuilding these calipers you will need new pistons from Porsche as that is the only way to get the seals. Paragon used to sell seal kits but I think they are no more. Things get more expensive if you replace the slider plates and crossover lines, sometimes there can be corrosion under them.

As you can see they ain’t cheap.

My 87 has the 4 piston rear setup. Took them off, popped the pistons out, cleaned them up and put them back in. They have worked great for the last 2 years.

The Porsche(Brembo) kits with pistons are beyond stupidly-expensive now. A couple of years ago they were just stupidly expensive.

The seals are available from Centric, but they do not sell except to distributors.

Jeannie or Roger (don’t know about Mark) can get you the centric seal kits.

Best order one kit extra too: While the centric seals work just fine they are not nearly as tough as the Brembo seals.

Turns out that motorcycles also use Brembo calipers with pistons the same size as what was used on some of our cars. They can often be a great source for these kinds of parts.

Example: https://www.kurveygirl.com/collectio...ton-dust-seals

I had another source that I used to rebuild my calipers and I don't remember it being as expensive as what's in that link; I'll look to see if I can find that supplier.

ETA: Here is the source I used, there's all kinds of parts available that are useful for our cars that are less than what you can find from Porsche/automobile focused suppliers - https://www.oppracing.com/category/2...acement-parts/

Cheers

So I did some web browsing and found FrenKit in Spain, they show the Brembo rebuild kit was able to make contact with Juan who was able to get the shipping arranged.
it looks like if they get more orders they could stock them here.

Sounds great, thank you very much Dan. We also already have a warehouse in Kansas, and ever more references there. If we detect that you have any needs, we will send more there to make shipping faster and cheaper.

Best regards, Dan
