Appreciate the offer Mark Im pretty sure i have the "guts" of what i will need here, if not i will be in touch.
It is what it is, and i will jump through the hoops. Its just so sad when you realize its not the end result that the "emissions station/govt" is looking for. Its the employement at smog stations, taxes generated etc etc thats the bottom line.
Still the funnest car i have ever owned and the best looking one out there on the street!
I will NEVER sell it..."torch" it...etc etc. thats just frustration about the "system" talking.

That sucks!
Hang in there Tony. If anybody can make this work, you're the guy for the job.
And you have the support of the whole community. Nobody here wants to see that particular car back to stock.
I learned most of what I know about my car by watching your posts.

Also, does the VIR follow the vehicle? Could you re-register in a friendlier state, then turn around and bring it back to Nevada and only be subject to the routine sniff-test when registering again?
You would think that in cases such as this, following the spirit of the law (clean air) would be more important than the letter (strictly stock).

from what i see the VIR number is called a Vehicle inspection report ...like a case file #? So I'm sure it is some how for ever linked to the VIN?
Actually, i may just go down to another corner smog station and test it again for the $hits of it to see what happens. If it passes...the guy enters it in the computer as it was done last time as PASSED and a new more recent VIR is generated for the same VIN and the "system" is updated. It all depends on whether the VIN is flagged by that original specific VIR # until a guy at THEEEE "emissions station" gives it his special blessing. ie a certain rank/level of personnel has to sign off on the offending VIR # first to release it to be registered again?
It would be too easy otherwise? It may be worth $19.95 as an experiment?
Hmmmm..now i am curious how the system works?

Tony, rent a forwarding mail box/suite in Pahrump, it's Nye County. No smog requirements in Nye county. Register it over there, like having a second home.

Sorry to hear about this, Tony. I would be really careful with trying the new smog at a station and seeing what happens. I would think they have your VIN flagged and you may run into further problems if another smog check comes up on your VIN. They really aren't the people you want to **** off. I would try doing what Joe suggested and try registering in Pahrump or out of state. I have a similar scenario with my '83 Euro, which is why it will stay registered in Florida. I thought about the classic tags, but really don't want to go that route. Let us know how this turns out...and if you need a hand, let me know, I'd be glad to help you out if you need an assistant when doing all of the work required to become 'legal'.

Personally I like Nicole's idea, but I'll swap you my smog stuff for you're blower. Just trying to be a good friend. Strait across too, I wouldn't want any money.

Tony--
Bolt the diverter on, the hoses from the pump etc but don't worry about the other ends or the cats. Put The Belly Pans On and safety-wire the fasteners so they can't get them off without damaging stuff. Pop-rivet the two pans together so they can't be separated. They won't pull the belly pans, but will be able to do a visual from the sides to confirm the cats are there. Th rest of the stuff will look fine and will pass, unless you have an obvious crankcase breather open to atmosphere. Remember that all the stock breather hoses are trapped under the intake. No way that an amateur at an inspection station will know what was there originally from what you have now. If you are nervous about it, maybe they have a pre-test option. Better though is go in not at all nervous, state with confidence that it's all original and all there, and how much you value originality in the car, etc. A good up-front image and a test guy unfamiliar with the car will do it.

Only read fist page here, but I think I might get a set of metal number punches and put on the cat numbers on the new cats you have. I am sure the numbers are on PET.

They do, and i looked into it, but i have 1 more year on that and in a nut shell i would have to go back to STOCK STOCK..intake and all...no SC! from that point i would be exempt and i woudl have to drive less than 2500 miles a year. Heck i only do appx 3000 now so that isnt hard. Going stock AINT gonna happen though.
Every two years I have been completely removing the SC kit, x-pipe, etc. and returning the car to bone stock configuration so I can pass CA smog. I did get tired of doing that. Maybe you can do it this one time.

Wow Tony. Sucks for sure! I've got my old air pump in my garage attic if you need - just let me know.
I like the idea of registering it in MN. They do require a front plate, but how does NV know that.
Overall, don't sweat it. Enjoy your day today!
