I think that Tony has just proved that he does take on board what's said and modifies his final views ... he's dropped the rally badges.

It's also only natural that he'll be defensive of his original position until he can see a good reason to change ... that's the position we're all taking with our views on this too.

You know me Tony..... go understated so as not to draw attention to the car.

Pot calling the kettle black, eh Dan?

On the hood badge... a satin/brushed finish can still be covered in clear, not only to put an unpolished shine to it, but to keep it looking like day 1. To tie it in with the rear... put black in the recesses of the crest. It will look like the old black & silver wheel centers and be a visual match with the rear of the car... use clear after the black is applied and it shouldn't fade or need touching up.

Too bad on the license plate... being printed instead of stamped -otherwise changing the color would have been easy!

Just my .02

P.S. opinions have been given because opinions have been requested... it's still up to your tastes. That's why I said you're going ahead on specific things anyway regardless of opinion... not really bustin' your chops.

As an aside (and already too late), have you researched what the absence of side markers will do in Texas... or any other state? Remember, Euro (maybe all ROW) models did not have side markers in the rear and not at the nose -but US law required them. Have you thought about those potential tickets? Just curious...

I removed the black on the hood badge for a reason. I wanted to go with more of the muted silver wherever I could. Already sprayed a few coats of of clear on the badge before I posted that pic of it, and it matches up great with the FM5's. I checked a few months back on the side marker light law in Texas-not required for pass cars. Dan, no one hardly noticed you, or your car at the 3rd Coast last fall ? T

Already decided not to use the badges as noted above. Did like the badging on my old E-600. T

Why not color the front badge to match the color of the car. A variation of this.

As for the removal of the bumperettes, side markers and headlight washers - already done that so I am in agreement.
Glad you dropped the rear badges.

Question

Rog, I had the painter save me a little paint before he put the hardener in before spraying some parts, and have done a little experimenting on one of the badges. I painted one of these badges with a tiny paint brush, but as you can easily view, I do not have the patience or skills needed to perform this task. I will have to call in my wife Tambra to do this if we decide to use the painted version. I still do like the way the plain silver looks though. Opinions ? T

I like both looks, the color match AND the all silver! Something about that all silver really catches my eye though I have to say!

Tony, every time I see those wheels I have wheel envy man! They are AWESOME!

[QUOTE=Dave928S;
We have that same space over here without bumperettes, and about the same width plates but not as high ... and I haven't seen anyone here having the overwhelming urge to fill the space.

I have,There is fashion and there is function, apart from not minding the bumperettes, they function,I put a pair on to slow down a few of the shocking drivers of old Sydney town.Cheaper than a rear panel repaint/replace.

Just noticed your map of Tassie Avatar, Dave, how long have those two causeways been there, looks like a great drive!

If you are going to go with clear lights, ie., removing the color, then keep the silver badge just silver to match. You are going to clear the front and rear lights along with the side markers aren't you?

Another couple things to consider...

Doing the 928 GTS script on the back in the same silver as the hood badge.
And adding the PORSCHE raised letters to the rear reflector and painting them either body color or the silver.

Jerry, My original plan was to double tape two rally badges on either side of the license plate to fill in that space a bit, but from the responses recieved, this is not going to happen. Moving the opening inward would take some skill to get it really right, and no, I did not think of that. Stick, I don't know what you mean about clearing the rear lights. I did paint the amber on the rear tail lights red. I wish that some aftermarket co made clear tail lights, I think that would look great. After market H-D suppliers make them for Harleys, etc and they look pretty cool. Also, the side markers have been deleted. I did install the front clear euro light lens covers to replace the small black front bumpers. Hey Rog, new ride ? T
