i can understand why you are lookin for somthing to go in the bumperettes place, but badges don't seem to fill that void.

I like the painted bumperette look on the newer cars.

I like what you're doing in going for a blue/silver theme without other colours, and getting rid of clutter to give smoother lines. Fantastic look.

We don't have bumperettes here and I think they detract from the 928 line by looking like a stuck on addition .. you don't need anything in their place. Leave the rally badges off.

Personally I don't like bling, badges, stickers or other. I wouldn't use the badges and I would look for a black matte license plate trim.

I was hoping someone else would do this, so I wouldn't have to!!

I really like the idea of the silver front emblem.

How about a wider license frame that fills in the bumperette gaps in so it looks like the indention is supposed to be that wide. Maybe make it with some tag colored filler so it looks like you have a really wide tag with only a few letters in the middle.

Default Better Pics

Most 928's have side marker lights (4), headlight squirters (2), door rub strips, (lets call it 2), rear windshield washer (1), a hood badge (1), a sunroof (1), a license plate frame (1), roof antenna (1) and bumperettes (2) for a total of 15 pieces. My car now has a hood badge and a license plate frame that does double duty as a back up camera, and your saying to me that it would be not the right thing to do to ad back in 2 cool euro badges for a total of 4 pieces ? That's 11 less pieces that most 928's and most are saying: Keep it clean" ? I think it's pretty clean, with or without the badging? T

Tony, if neither you nor the car has done those events, then I don't think they should be on the car. That is like having shoot down markers on the side of your P51 but not having actually shot anything down.

But, as we have seen with this whole project you are going to do whatever you please and why you ask this group is beyond me because you know at least one or two folks (probably me) are gonna **** you off with our suggestions, despite being asked for them.

So, anyway, like just about everyone else here, I vote no badges! I agree with the person that said to order up a German plate and put that one the car...just like this!

I look at it as simple aesthetics to enhance the car as I would like to see it. I have visions on how I want this 928 to look. I know that myself or this 928 have not been to these rally's, and I treat it as a little fun jewelry for the car. I have posted before and have taken into account what fellow Rennlister's have said, and I do value their opionions and have responded accordingly. If you haven't noticed, I have not pulled the GTS motor to replace it with the LS3, and I was getting ready to pull the trigger. It seemed it would have ticked off a lot of 928'rs, so I hit the brakes on that one. I have also gone over with you previously about the euro plate. I do like it, and had one on my 80 Euro 928 back in the day. But, it's illegal and I do not want to draw any unwanted attention from the police. T

Hey, you asked and got answers

I don't think it's the number of "pieces", rather you want to add something that doesn't belong and has a bling factor

+1

Also, IMHO, diamond plating only belongs on jeeps and trucks (and maybe some '80s camaros or mustangs)

I do like the license plate frame and reverse camera though.

I agree totally... although at least in 356 circles, it is cool to put rally badges from the same year the car is made (1959 356 with 1959 rally badges) -so in the very least have the rally badges be from 1994... if you have to have them. That would at least mimic what other sects of Porschedom consider appropriate or allowed.

The Euro-plate idea that James has is the best option to fill that void you created by "cleaning up the bumperette area". State laws may find that you get a lot of tickets though... even if you carry the real plate in the car with you... not just speaking of Texas, as you will probably do some traveling with it.

That hood crest looks unfinished compared to the rest of the car... at least get it chromed or polished (IMHO).

But why ask us? You've seen most of your ideas receive more than a little controversy... and you did them anyway. Do what you feel is what will make you happy... the rest of us will just whisper behind your back.

Barry, Like I said above, I do evalutate and appreciate advice from this forum. I have not done the GTS-Chebby (as you would say) LS3 motor swap because of responses recieved from this forum. I am going for the more muted look on the rims, hood badge, S/S exhaust tips, etc, and have not installed any of this yet as of yet because the 928 is still at Larry's P&B. Gonna have a look at the hood badge, etc in natural light and see if it goes, and if not, try another route, but will not be using chrome anywhere on this car. Like some feedback on the Boyo back up camera license plate frame, or, "There is no substitute" license plate frame ? Either one will do a nice job of covering up the "Texas Tough" script on the bottom of the plate ? I chose this TX license plate more for the color (muted silver). Unfortunately, the diamond plate pattern came with and you really don't noticed it unless up close. Don't have a lot of choices on vanity plates in Texas, and the regular plate was not happening for me. T
