MrMerlin, I work as an IT but have been working on cars since 1978 as a hobbie . Took a auto mechanic work shop at the University of Minnesota. Actually during the 25 years and 180k miles my 928 car went trough 2 timing belts one @ 100k and second @ 159k in my previous post I wrote 3 timing belts by mistake so I saved 3 timing belts jobs. I live in San Diego and the average temp is 75 so that could effect belt life. I'm not saying every one should follow my advice but the money I saved is enough to fix bend valves and rebuilding my engine.

No I've never worked for Morton-Thiokol but I don't have to be a rocket scientist to read my own service history regarding timing belt dates on my own car which is 2 timing belts and 2 water pumps and a couple of rollers in 25 years and 180k. Timing belts don't make me paranoid but cancer does. LOL

I love guys that take chances with Timing Belts, good for my bottom line.
Mine is coming up on 30,000 miles, and a little over 2.5 years, and it will be getting a new belt that comes in a Porsche box.
As far as OEM water pumps, I had a new one fail and get into my block in less than 3,000 miles, but it did not bend valves, so I got really lucky, other have not been so lucky.
I may try one of Ed's WP, but what ever goes on the car, it WILL have a plastic impeller.

You are not in that category, you've just been stating an opinion, one that is pretty wrong, but an opinion anyway.
I just did a search on myself, lawls, one thing in 18 on the google pages and that was a birthday thread from here. I must not be doing it right.
