Default Cylinder head question.

On the 928, can I use a left-bank cylinder head on the right-bank, if I use the right-side camshafts?
In other words, are the cylinder heads the same, sans camshafts?

Thanks.

Yes.

There are parts that are bolted specifically to the sides, but the heads themselves are interchangeable.

Some day I'm going to build a 928 motor with one 16V head and one 32V head.

Should make for an interesting looking intake manifold.

Thank you

Also, are there certain 32v heads that flow better/worse than others? Or is it just different camshafts?

People like the 89 heads because I think they are thicker, but don't think there is any factory flow difference, or if it is its small compared to typical mods like bigger valves.

So the 89 heads are thicker... Is there a problem with the non-89 heads? What about in boosted applications?

IIRC there was a problem with some of the pre -89 heads (S4) cracking near the bolt holes. The thickness where this was happening was increased to strenghten them.
I also recall reading where later heads or intakes (I can't rember which) had a minor change in inlet diameter that resulted in better 'port matching'.
