Default Rear S4 Intake Temp Sensor

I think I have water in my rear upper intake sensor..the one behind the flappy cover.

IIRC, that just runs the fans based on intake air temp, right?

If thats unplugged, does that affect how the car runs as well?

if its unplugged then the fans wont come on after you shut off the car
if the sensor turns on this would run the fans if the engine was hot

Water?? How did water get in there? And where??

Yes, it is part of the fan and colling-flap control-- see page 19-18 of the WSM.

I'm not sure what happens if it is unplugged, but I assume that falls under the heading of "if any fault, the flaps open and the fans run flat-out".

But how did water get into the sensor? Was this car previously registered somewhere near Katrina?

Cheers,

Engine bay got some cleaning last weekend, nothing harsh..but I got the 'water in sensor fault' from a thread a # of weeks ago..so just followed the same logic.

BTDT. I got mine wet on the 89 while cleaning the engine up. It dried out in a few days, and worked fine every since. I let if plugged in, and just popped the hood each time I stopped. The hood has a cut off for the same fan.
