Default Need advice for my 1980 Porsche 928S

Hey,

My names Patrick, im located in Australia and i've got a 1980 Porsche 928S V8 auto and i need some help on many things.

My car is missing the rubber cover, sliding shutter, cover with pointer and stock ****, where can i get them?

My car is missing the front grill and front spoiler/lip where can i get them?

The previous owner replaced the stock spoiler with a late model spoiler. So on the back window and back sides i need to retrim with the plastic/rubber mould. Where can i them? (sorry if this doesent make sense, not to sure what to say)

Do they have aftermarket clear side repeaters, front bar lights and aftermarket headlights/tailights for this car?

The badges on my car are fading, where can i get a new set?

I would like to replace all interior and exterior lights with L.E.D's but the problem is i dont know what type i need to get. Anyone happen to know?

My radiater is leaking at the breather adapter (going by the PET or Parts catalogue) how would i fix this?

Cheers,

Patrick

Welcome Patrick,

If you do a search there are many write-ups here on the forum about LED conversion. The breather adapter is sealed with an o-ring and is threaded into the end tank of the radiator. Should be a simple fix to replace the o-ring. Be careful that you don't cross-thread the adapter or over tighten on re-installation. If you don't have record of the last coolant change I would put that and a new thermostat w all seals on the top of the "to-do" list.

When you talk to Roger ask him to include a set of shop manuals on CD (about $75US if I remember correctly). You will need them and the info contained in the set is VERY comprehensive, much more complete than the manuals posted on-line.

Hey Mike,

Ill search it up

Ill check it out, it leaks on the breather adapter so would it be the o ring for sure?

What are the shop manuals?

Cheers,

Patrick

You can download the manuals, for free, here:

http://www.cannell.co.uk/Manuals.htm

There are several good vendors. Then there's "the dealer" or "Porsche Centre" depending on your place on the globe. Avoid them as they likely won't know your car and will charge you a premium for that service.

The first one is my favorite and will ship quality used parts to you.

http://www.928intl.com/
http://www.928gt.com/
http://www.paragon-products.com/
http://www.pelicanparts.com/
http://www.vertexauto.com/

A few answers:

Rubber shutter? I'm confused.

The S spoiler is an expensive part. Shop around for low price. Shipping may hurt ya there.

Ditch that wing! Check eBay for rear spoiler and that kind of stuff, or 928 Intl.

Yes, there are clear side markers (turn signals). Search this site for links.

Every vendor sells the hood badge.

Breather adapter? Maybe tighten it down, if I'm following. The nipple on the left side (Aussie passenger) on the top? There's a little gasket below. A cheap fix. Or maybe it's the hose. Remove it, cut off 3/4" and put it back.

And Welcome!

G'day Patrick ... and welcome!

Tell me where you are in Oz and I can PM you the most likely sources for used parts here, for some of the parts you're after.

I've bought all my new parts from Roger and found the prices and service to be excellent ... and he's a nice bloke. If you give him a call, you'll also find out that he's a pommie ... and he knows how to speak orstralean .. in a sort of pommie/yankee way

Put a few details of your car in the signature line and that'll help everyone to help you ... and pics are good to help identify things quickly, and easy to upload on this site.

Sorry Patrick I should have been more clear. I was referring to the factory Workshop Manuals, many time abbreviated on this forum as WSM.

Cheers for the sites and manuals

I need to get the rubber cover/boot/bag, sliding shutter (that hides the space in the middle, cover with pointer and stock ****.

I would love to get a front S spoiler ill just look around

I love the rear spoiler though The previous owner had the old stock spoiler but then replaced it with the current one. In doing so the trim around the windows which were covered with the spoiler are not covered now, what can i do?

Not really understanding what your saying for the radiater leak? All i can say is that the hose thats connected to the radiater its leaking from there. Should i just tighten it?

Cheers for the welcome,

Patrick.

Hi Patrick:

Apart from being a long-time member here, I have a little online store that's specialized on aftermarket goodies for the 928. You may have seen my logo on the Australian "Landshark" website - I have many customers down under.

I have clear turn signal and side flasher lenses, as well as complete drop-in assemblies for the side flashers. I also have a clear segment for the tail light lenses, which replaces the amber ones.

And I offer LED kits that are clear when off, and amber when lit, including the proper flasher relay to make them work in the 928.

Many owners purchase my embossed style PORSCHE lettering for the rear bumper cover. It is available in silver, black, red, and can be custom ordered in more colors.

I offer interior LEDs for the dome and door lights, as well as for the instruments and console.

PM me with any questions you may have.

Welcome to the shark tank.
for the radiator breather i would suggest to buy a new fitting,
it will come with a new O ring,
and if its leaking its usually a cracked fitting.

The rubber thing your looking for sounds like a shifter console cover is that correct?
If so then you may have some luck sourcing a used part

Yep i need everything for the auto shifter

Patrick

928 International is having their annual Holiday 1/2 price sale on used parts. May be an opportune time for you to score a number of parts at low cost.
