Next time have stuff sent to me, and I'll ship it to you as "used VW parts".

David,

Can you post a picture of the inside of the merge collector? I would like to see that if possible. I have no immediate need for these but the price is interesting enough that I may buy them and sit on em.

1. Complexity - GB's headers are like spagehtti
2. Beauty - GB's headers look amazing
3. Cost - I think GB's headers are about $1k maybe more? Dunno for sure.
4. Length - I believe GB's headers are equal length - these are not.

3. FWIW, I paid $3K for my GB headers, dunno whether the price is going to stay the same, go up, or down. I opted to have them coated inside and out by Embee, for $300 additional. William left his nekkid, Hebert had the whole exhaust coated.

5. Are the MSDS headers stainless or mild steel? Greg's are SS.

6. GB's are 1.75" primaries- 928 MS lists what look like the MSDS headers as 1-5/8" but also sell the 1.75" big-port headers.

7. Greg's catback setup bolts to his headers perfectly, installs right out of the box without welding or mods and allows use of the belly pans, if that's important to you. If you only install either the MSDS or GB headers alone, there will be welding in your future.

8. Still haven't had a chance to dyno the damn stroker with the new exhaust on it, I really need to do that. Of course, on a delta hp/$ basis the MSDS headers will win by a country mile.

Here's the collector shot for comparison:

GB headers also use a gasket-less collector, very nice. And yes, they are $3k, but worth it IMO.

The collectors are a tight fit, when the coated headers came back the coating was thick enough that we couldn't tap the collector on easily, so Greg took an abrasive wheel and polished the ends of each tube until the collector could be slid on. They're still snug, tho. No air leaks.

Gregs are infinitely nicer headers, just look at the merge going back

but 6x the cost.... I think they are absolutely worth it, the question is can I afford them anytime soon? Thats the problem.

want vs need vs ability to purchase.... hopefully this new job generates lots of greenbacks!

I personally think that it is a bit to much concidering the shinny new ones are only $94 bucks more plus its cheeper to get the coating before you buy.
I guess I don't really feel that I need them yet.
maybe next year I will do up the engine with an exhaust system to match it.
