hi Tony.
First i think it is looking good.
I used JL rather then Kicker but it was a close choice.
On the manual seat thing, I did see some for sale here and they did look close to a stock look and did look a lot lower. You would have to search as I don't remember the thread.
Lookin good.
BTW that slammed look is sooooo cooool

I have used JL in the past and do like their products. Visually, I think the Kicker MX Amps with the "Skins" of your choice option, with many artists to choose from. Also, the end caps that hide the RCA cables, speaker wire, etc really finish off the appearance of the sound system. I did fire up the sound system and it sounds great. I do know a little about sound, I was in the nightclub business for 25 years when I was younger and we had some really kicking sound systems, re: Crown fan fed amps, hanging JBL 4 direction heavy tweeters, large JBL mid/horn hanging boxes, humongo, pants shaking JBL speakered subwoofer boxes, etc. T

What is your VIN #?
I am in the motorcycle business, and the seats on most bikes are nowhere near as comfortable as a stock seat in an auto. Also nice to have glass in front of you, especailly in the rain, wind and even snow. That being said, I know what I want, have tried several seats, and chose the Corbeua's because my wife & I like them. Can we please move on from the seat issue? The A/C in this car will freeze your hands to the steering wheel, so no need for the rear A/C that just might cause me some trouble down the road. The rear A/C, front & rear seats are in A/C storage, no need for ya'll worry about the OEM stuff which is safely tucked away if we ever decide to sell the car, which probably won't happen as long as I can breath, so who cares-not I. T
Tony,
Best you do as you please with "YOUR" car you'll find that so many here will gripe no matter what you do. My last VIN end in 185 is your # before or after mine?
Besides my standard (all electrical) comfort seats I had purchased an extra set of seats for my car about a year ago (I went with factory sport seats that later got converted) but as tall as you are they would not give you the head clearance your looking for so if your seats are comfortable and they are you flavor of ice cream than to heck with everybody else has to say if they can’t be nice let them go and play in their own SAND BOX.
Good to know you’re in Rockport a place I have enjoyed visiting many a times by car and boat in the past I look forward to meet you at the third coast.
All the best to you and happy motoring to you and the wife.

H, Last three VIN# 157. Thanks for the seat advice. Amps are mounted to the custom built cabinet, mounted vertically. Not near the gas. Thanks for looking out for me though because I am dangerous around fuel, I burn enough of it. T

The rear cabinet is coming out very nice. Better than I had imagined. I really like the center console mod. I wouldn't be able to take the Kicker graphics, but that is a minor issue... I'd have Paul make some leather inserts for those with the Op-Art design laser engraved on them. Heck, I can't even handle a different speaker in the doors, and hate blingy looking radios too. It looks like what you're doing is tasteful. I know I'd probably do mods to my GTS too if I had one too, though my mods would probably be more mechanical than cosmetic. Looking forward to seeing it finished. Hope to see it in person some day too!

The major interior mods are done !
The cave behind the pass seat is for the custom built sub woofer box, and the sub cover screws into it. The middle cave will be a boxed storage space for the laptop, paper towels, etc. The top shelf above the middle cave will house a leather bound Texas State map, with cover artwork by my wife Tambra. The cave behind the drivers side seat will house an easy to pull out backpak filled with car cleaning supplies & towels. The shelf above that is for easy access to store Tambra's purse while on the road. All that's left on the interior is for Paul Champagne to make one of his cool cargo covers, a black, pasha raised center armrest, and matching door armrests. These opt-art pieces are to commemerate our previouse 80 Euro that was totaled 16 years ago. Next step is painting the hats on the recently purchased Zimmerman drilled rotors, and installing the low dust Hawk brake pads that Roger sent to us. Mounting the Conti DW's on 18" Fikse FM5's. T

Nice clean work Tony. I agree with those who "make the car" their own, as I've made some small modifications (several ideas from Jim Mayzurk) that personalize my '94 as well.
Interesting that your black/black car is serial number 157. My '94 has a 156 serial number, was sold in Houston, and was black/black as well. So, yours is a few days "newer" than mine!!
The seats are one of my changes - to 12 way heated. Good luck with the car.

I must have missed it . what speakers did you use, howmany, and was there any fab work other than the box with storage and sub wooofer. Looks really great.
Did you ever consider MacIntosh for car stereo or is that just high priced electronics?

Sound system
Somebody on one of these Blogs stated that the Focals are shallow mount and thats what you needed for an easier installation. I must have bought the wrong Focal's because we had to do some cutting behind the mids and tweeters in the upper door panels. Also had to build out the lower door kick to handle the depth of the 6.5" base speakers and let me say, it was well worth it. I presume the other way to go was a 2 way system up front and you would only have a 4" mid alongside the tweeter with a sub somewhere? We built a real sturdy 3/4" thick, mdf box and then dropped in a Bouston Acoustics 10" Subwoofer, which is plenty unless you are looking for a true mind numbing experience. The head unit is a double din JVC with touchscreen technology, DVD Player, a removable face, built in EQ that works great, remote control thats not really needed, built in bluetooth and a USB port for your I-Pod that can also be controlled on screen. I have the same head unit in my truck and it works great. Going the extra mile was well worth it because the Sound System sounds superb. Well balanced, and plenty of umph for most. The stock sound system in these cars is an absolute joke-like many other OEM systems including the Bose (Blows) sound system that was in my 08 Corvette. Another feature with this setup is that you can transfer the system to your next ride and put the stock system back in without an issue. I have done several times with other cars & systems similar to this system. T

Focal does make a slim 4" driver, however, it is WAY overpriced with street pricing on the kit of around $550:

You got a much better value with the deeper drivers.
