Default Misbehaving Fans after Hose Blows

Last weekend the engine end of my upper radiator hose popped off. It looked like the clamp might have been a bit loose. I pulled over right away, let things cool down, then reconnected the hose and refilled the coolant. No real problem-the temp gauge never even went into the red. Everything is fine, but now the electric fans start immediately when I start the car cold, and do not go off when I shut it down unless I pop the hood to release the hood switch. It's an hour or so before I can close the hood without the fans going on, even when the car has only run for a minute or two. Could something have been damaged during the overheat incident?

REplace the temp switch on to of the intake. It got liquid in it and is sticking. Give it a little more time and it will start killing the batrey overnight.

You can easily test for the switch failure by disconnecting the two wires on the switch. Insulate the brown/green one so it does't contact metal or the brown wire. If the car acts/drives normally, a new switch is in your future. Good News is that it's just about the easiest senor on the engine to change. Relatively inexpensive and readily available new from your favorite sponsoring 928 parts vendor.

The diagnosis was right on target! I'll order a new one tomorrow.
