Default Puzzling ignition lead set for S4

Hi,

I just installed a new Beru ignition lead set on my 89 S4. Does anyone know why the set came with 4 of the short ignition coil leads? For the life of me, I can only find two under the hood - from the two coils to the two distributor caps.

Thanks!

Yes, the are two different coil-end connectors. So you got two coil wires of each type.

Mark thats because the car at one point came with different sets of coils so the 2 different wired ends are included.
A savvy owner will keep the other set knowing,
that with a bit of silicone spray under the non matching end boot ,
the end will uinscrew and the other fitting boot screws back on

Building on above, the "savvy owner" will also unscrew and retain possession of all the wire ends on his/her original wire set.

This savvy owner was thinking of selling the entire old set on Ebay, as it looks in good condition and there was no change in the running of the car when switching to the new ones!

I guess this must be the topic of the month.

"Ignition coil wires; recognize this termination?"

I wouldn't sell anything that didn't work. Of course, not everyone is so scrupulous...
