BTW, even though the write up is for a '78, I've used it for an 86.5 and my current 78. Slightly different board types, but similar principles apply. Work slow at first and study a number of the posts that deal with fuse panel R&R's. There is lots of good stuff out there on this subject.

Not sure how you any of you can embark on any fixes without first having become intimate with these documents.

this might help some

Yes, learning how to read the WSM wiring diagrams is a big help too. That is one benefit of having the hard bound set - color diagrams.

Its not just the WSM's.

Those docs above are in the supplemental communications to the dealers.
Wish the CD's had more of them, but its something!

Far easier to read, and give body and guidance to the WSM's.

Makes having WSM's in digital form much more reasonable, too.

So I stumbled across this thread earlier today and figured eh why not i don't have anything better to do, and it can't hurt right?

Boy I'm glad I found this!

This didn't do much for my low-reading volt gauge, but it did FINALLY get my ( ! ) light to go out! God I hate that light.

Do this, people, if you haven't already!

Just cleaned my CE panel from my '84 too.

The volt meter on the dashboard reads a bit higher now, never seen it this high. It's against the red line, 14.5 volts I think. It went back down to 12 after 5 minutes by the way. I cleaned the dashboard pod earlier this week too, so all connections are optimal now.

I had a strange 100mA power leak from the rear window defogger that is gone now. There are two relais that do the rear defogger and I had to remove the simple one before (XXII orso) to get rid of the power drain. All good now.

And the defogger finally works fast! I see it starting to work after 1 minute already. I'm real happy about that as I like seeing people behind me.

The left indicator occasionally went off in the past, it happened that fuse holder #3 was simply very dirty. Nice to see such simple causes.

And it could be my imagination but I had the feeling that the engine was running a bit smoother.

So all in all I'm quite happy about it. It fixed many small issues and I know that if something doesn't work that the fuse box is not the cause. Well except if a fuse burnt out that is
