Does anyone have a pic of the back of my 89 instrument cluster?
I would like to fix the light bulb that illuminates the lower left corner of the instruments - I can't see the fuel gauge at night! Its an 89 with the text display.
I can just get my hand up there but I need to know where the bulb is, and how to change it. Alternatively, how hard is removing the cluster? |
If you use "search this forum" for (89 instrument bulb) there is a write up " 15 minute....." w/pics done on 7/13/10 by
Schocki that might be helpful to you I believe it's a later 928 however bulbs should be comparable, with pics on cluster removal.... '89 S4 GP White/Black '76 912E Silver/Black |

The main cluster illumination bulb is a 9mm wedge base, type 194/168. Porsche part # is 928 641 982 01.
If you can reach it in situ, then by all means, it's just a 1/4 turn CCW to get the bulb holder out . No way could I do that with my mitts, but pod removal is a 10 minute job once you've done it once or twice, using Schocki's instructions.
