Default manual gearbox and differential

I have a 928S -84 with a manual gearbox. Switching from 3rd to 2nd is not working smoothly so I have planned changing gear box for a long time. Also the 40% differential is a bit worn as it seems.

Now I have found a -91 GT that seems ok, so I want to hear if somebody has done that switch; i.e. both gear box and diff. The -91 has the PSD electro/pneumatic one, so there seems possibly to be two options: a) change cpl diff incl pneumatic system that maybe could be manually controlled b) pick internal gears from the -91 and mount to the -84. But are the main gears same at all?

We have a few guys in Sweden that have a manual pneumatic control just with a small **** in the cabin; i.e. no electronics connected to the ABS system etc, so that is also an option. Do you have more info on the bolt/plate and how that is mounted?

do yourself a favor

and be patient and find the right gearbox anything from 1985 to 1989 would be considered a big upgrade

a PSD box in a non PSD car is a waste of resources on your part because you will spend more for a feature that you cant make use of, its also a waste of a clever PSD gearbox.

be patient gearboxes aren't that hard to come by.

You should be able to sell the GT 5 spd for a large premium over the cost of a rebuilt 5 spd from an 85+, ask and I am sure someone will offer a trade plus cash.
