New to the tank
Hi I recently bought a 1980 Euro or I should say Euro/NA. After a thorough inspection by Roger and Sean here in DFW. I have a Euro body but NA engine. I look forward to many happy hours of driving and hours of time on this list to figure out all the secrets of my new 928!

I'll post pics w/o permission. The car started out with a M28/11 in the past and now has a M28/13. Don't know why or how that the engine was replaced, so can't guess as to what they swapped over. For all I can tell, they stuck a US lower and added all the top end stuff from the Euro engine.
Car is in good hands, TB/WP is almost done, waiting on two rollers. The water bridge and the oil filler neck was leaking bad, and are already finished and went smooth. Replaced a few hoses etc.
Will finish the TB/WP tomorrow and get the rear axles out for a refurbish, then on to the electrical stuff that needs addressed. Bill should have the car back Thursday night and driving this thing like it should be.

Bill,
Welcome to the shark tank. You have a very nice car even if as a German it had an affair with an American. Something about opposites attract!!
White with blue interior - shame its a five speed - still you can't have everything 8>).

Welcome!
Very nice car. Love the matching phone dials and no rub strips look. I can't tell if there's a sunroof on there or not. The non-sunroof cars have more headroom (and less headaches from a mechanical standpoint if you know what I mean).
Congrats and good luck with it!

She's all done. For this trip anyway.
Timing belt/water pump, early CV joints redone (should have seen the goo that used to be grease), coolant and oil bridges resealed, both windows operational now, horn and turn signals rewired so they work correctly, shifter linkage replaced (someone thought electrical tape and tubing would fix it after they stripped the allen bolt out, cut the coupler off and the bolt was stuck in the layshaft, that was a pain to fix). Fuel sender rebuilt, all cluster gauges work now.
All she needs are some tires, and alignment and be driven. The car has not been on the road since 2001. Got 30 miles on her yesterday and had to go back in to the shift linkage this morning, but I think that's good to go.
Very nice driver and glad it's gone to a good owner.

Interesting look. Welcome to the group. I hope you knew it had a NA engine when you bought it. If that happened to me, that would make me real, real unhappy.

The shifter bar threads were just fine, so that was not the issue. It was the bolt that holds the coupler to the layshaft, wouldn't come out, no matter what I tried (someone in the past had stripped it. Best option would have been to pull the trans out and drill it out and remake the pin set. But that's a lot of $$ to do.
I ended up cutting the bolt off flush, and reforming a notch that would fit a modified 13mm bolt to hold the coupler in place. It ended up pretty good. Time will tell though.
