Seeing a trend here.....
I think there's a consensus from 928 mechanics that PO and non 928 mechanics are the worst enemy on these cars.
Many complain that a low mileage car is a bad thing but when you look at the big picture, the odds are that the low mileage car hasn't been hacked by a bad mechanic or PO and there usually aren't many surprises when you need to make a repair.
To add to what others have already covered well.

Any one of the new "supercar chevy or dodge" passing me by on the highways. I've been taunted on several occasions and just laugh. Something about the word "Porsche" across the rear of the car... My wife has even noticed.

The newest 928s are 15 years , old oldest 32 years old. Technology and design have not stood still so frankly the 928 is obsolete. So I would have to say time which has two aspects , the general deterioration of what was once new, and the capabilities of and comparison to new cars. Yea, TIME.....
