My Blower Blows!
 

So what I thought was a squeak under my dashboard is actually an intermittent noise from my blower motor (total silence with the blower disconnected).

Anybody got a quiet blower they don't need? Searched the archives and only found one post where someone claimed to have had their motor repaired, most others said not to bother and just look for a good used one ...

Tom, I might have one being delivered today from a guy who is turning his GT in to a race car. When he gets here I'll find out how much he wants.

Has anybody figured out how to replace the bearings and brushes in these?
My last used one made a squeak last weekend so I know it wont be long.

Good luck. I know that squeak well. I thought for the longest time I had a loose bolt or something that was causing that squeak until it got more and more pronouced. It gets quite loud and annoying before it actually dies.

Luckily not a hard job and there is some good documentation on line for the replacement. You may want to consider replacing the resistor pack while you've got the blower out. Only takes another 5 or 10 minutes once your in there. You'll be pissed if a year from now you get magic blower syndrome and have to pull it out again.
