Coil cover removal

I did the search and find nothing about how the cover comes off of coil on 1988 S4.

I don't want to break it as I see it has a chip out of it.
Thank You
Thomas

Cover comes off of ignition coil?

The wire looks like it goes through the plastic cover I believe.

The plastic cover just pops off. It has a cast-in wedge cut out of it so the terminal lead wires can exit. The covers keep the connections clean.

What, nobody's got a copy of PET?? ... :icon501:

That cover is one of the cheaper ignition parts, and definitely not your problem.

So, Gustatus, I am thinking your running-rich-and-missing problem still sounds like ignition, what have you NOT replaced in the picture below?

Ground straps (#27, 28) in place??

Wire set is new, right? Were the connectors new also, or just new wires on old connectors? Plug #8 was the only one fouled as I recall (from a recent post), have you gone over that wire carefully? Swapped it with another?? You can also check it with a multimeter, it will have some resistance, just make sure the resistance is in the same ballpark as the others. A few thousand ohms is fine (resistance wire), megohms is bad.
