The price seems very good, imho. My friend looked for a while to find a clean S4 ~100k similar to yours, with most in the $11k - $16k range.
Think of it this way - as long as a person doesn't clearly pay too much and they like the car...it is a good deal. It's just the price for admission anyway, so if it was an acceptable amount in order to get into the amusement park, excellent, now you're in so enjoy your time!
Welcome!!

OK, thanks for sharing opinions.
I appreciate the desire for pictures, I apologize for my lack of photo ability at the moment. I will do another thread in the future where I show it off properly.
I have owned an old 944 for 11 years, and this 928 is intended to be its replacement, so I am well aware of the "liabilities" of owning an old Porsche. The 944 has cost me around $3000 per year in maintenance, which makes about $33,000 dollars--quite a bit.
The main reason I am concerned about overpaying is that, in order to cover this car for damages, my insurance company requires an appraisal. Obviously if it appraises for less than what I paid, I am underwater immediately, which is less than exciting.

Well, I could have gotten away with a lot less in 944 costs, but I have high standards when it comes to Porsches. If it doesn't look great and run even greater, what's the point?

These are all expenses rather than investments, but the rate of return (smiles per dollar) is fairly high!

Since you can easily spend 20K bringing a car back into good condition, the price you pay makes no difference, at all.
Any paint job worth considering will be over 5K...so if it has good paint, you saved that expense.
15K left to go...

I paid way north of that for my 87 5 speed, but I wanted to buy a car that was in great shape. Like many on this board suggest, I think it's worth it to pay more up front for a well cared for car.
