I heard the early 928's were much lighter than the later production runs... I think your idea of gutting it and making it into a track car is an awesome idea

this is an incredible find and I wish I had had the time to talk to you more about it at Frenzy
this does really help more define production at early stages, if Porsche recognizes vin 16 as #6 production then true sequence is off 10 cars, I'll account for this when tracking them
when you get it back east let me know, I'd love to look at a few things
here's hoping a few more early cars pop out of the woodwork

thanks for your mail - I'll answer you separately. Thought, some things might interest the others as well:
The car you recalled was the pace-car that sits on my buddy Joe's yard. First registered Feb 10.1977, VIN 20. If you compare the reg plates - both are very close and typical for the factory that time (S-CX 2141).
Sadly, she has been resprayed and the following owners 'pimped' her with spoilers and side-markers, which has been the most tricky thing to get the original front wing without hole - Porsche had only one left in stock, so we're still searching a right front wing...
The pics I've got are showing the car as we found her - if you don't know it from the docs, you would never ever recognize her. It really was a lucky shot.
PS: I might have a new km speedo
