928 Club Sport with Tiptronic
Well, not quite Tiptronic, but a semi-automatic transmission from the Group C racers. The gearbox was a predecessor for the PDK gearboxes.
Was this car actually built ? According to Brian Long's book this car was built and driven by Hans Joachim Stuck. It even had a PDK sticker on the back. As far as I can see, the car was one of the 4 CS prototypes. See page 155 in Brian Long's book for details. Ragnar |
That would be an awesome 928 in addition to Sterling's Variocam.

The white 928S4 from Hans Joachim Stuck (private car) has been sold here some time ago for around 50k EUR - it had a normal manual gearbox. However, interesting idea...

Nope, the car which was sold for EUR50k was a proper CS, the white S4 prototype CS which sold for similar money belonged to Jochen Maas. The PDK car was built - at the end of the day it is in the pictures, but its later history is unknown. PDK box is not semi-auto, but a dual clutch box - just the same as the one found in modern day Porsches.

I don't think they were doing ANY 7 speeds then... I think it was a 5spd PDK...based on the 956/962 racing gear box.
