Default Rusty fuel pipe

Decided to fit the fuel pressure gauge I got from Roger, I took of the black plastic rail cover and shone a light down there, just to check things as you can see a little into the vee and discovered a problem, the main fuel feed is clamped to a bolt on the coolant bridge, its a steel clamp round the steel pipe and I could see serious corosion between them, its going to need a new pipe and clamp, can't take a chance in that area, looks like I'll to remove lots of bits to fit a new one...#*#@
Picture not that clear as I only had my phone with me but the rust has really eaten into the pipe, the rest of the pipe looks like new, only a matter of time and I would have had a big problem.
Makes me wonder if there is anymore 'Time bombs" on my car.
Oh well, another job on the list.

you may be able to buy a used feed line and cut off the old hard line and clamp on new hose its not that hard to remove the feed line just disconnect it from both ends then remove the hold down clamp use a small cup to catch the fuel as well as some rags

Is it advisable/safe to run a hose instead of a metal pipe in that area, ie over the top of the cam cover and round the front of the engine, I'm thinking pressure/heat and chafing.

run the factory hose and only replace the flexible portions, make sure to use fuel injection hose it has 12 threads going through it instead of 6 for low press line
