Quote of the day from Tim Murphy's garage, by an 8 year old.
Mike Schmidt (Z) and I have been working on my 81 today. Adding some data logging, cleaning up some wires, Shark Tuning / Plotting etc....
Tim Murphy's 8 year old daughter walks up to Mike while he's adding a wire to my battery and asks:
"Did the car just not work, or did it work and you guys did something to make it not work, and now you are making it work again?"
I think she's been hanging around the garage too much.........

Heads / Cams are still stock US 81 stuff. 85/86 exhaust manifolds with custom SS-Y and 3" exhaust.
Modified S4 fuel rails with 42lb injectors.
There is a supercharger in there somewhere
I'm working on organizing all the photos to do a post on the project.
It's fun Shark Tuning an OB (sorry Glen.... )

No wonder you had time to go clean stuff up, that should not have taken more than half a day.
sounds like a ton of work man.

It's the original 4.5 liter US motor with EuroS Intake, TB and converted the LH / EZF from a EuroS too. So I have the twin dizzy, dual coil's etc....

Interesting to hear. I am feeling not very satisfied with CIS on my OB, and trying to decide if I should do what you have done or build a Megasquirt. The advantage of what you have done is that I could sharktune both of my cars, which would justify the investment in a sharktuner. Early days on my OB motor yet. I have less than 50 miles on it so it probably has some loosening up to do and I probably have more tuning to do, but my feeling right now it that the CIS (due to the restriction of the metering plate?) is keeping it from having the top end roar that the S4 and even my Ljet car have. It is nice and smooth on the bottom, but there is just not much launch. This despite Euro S top end. There is a SC waiting to go on here too, and that may cure it...

Confirmed last night that it will run in "limp home" mode - just not very well. Hacker had forgotten to plug in the MAF.
This is a very cool project for sure.
