Default Mondo track pictures - 928 content

Some pictures from last weekends track event combining Firebird Main track along with Bob Bondurant school track - 2.5 Miles with 21 turns.

Myself, Rich A and Jeff H running our track sharks.

It was HOT - Sunday, paddock asphalt temps reached almost 140 degrees. I kid you not.

We had a great turn out. I dont recall the number of cars that registered but it was MAJOR.

good times ....

Enjoy the pics (172 pages of pics)

It ran great except that it puked some water a couple of times ... It was the hottest (paddock) track event I have ever attended (in 11 years with pro auto)

he needs to cut tha hole for the hood vent, AND most importantly, put on an old air dam. the air just goes right under the car without any guidance!

Thanks for posting the pics Drew. Looks like it was a great turn out. Sorry I couldn't make it. Next time for sure. Hopefully it will be cooler.

Hey, just noticed, and maybe I forgot. Is rich really running the CIS? I gave him my entire engine, and all the LJ stuff connected. it would be Exremely interesting to hear how that motor runs now with CIS.
it was 290rwhp when I dyno'ed it with the devek level II headers. near the same as the same engine I built for Scot, with the devek level 1 headers. the only difference was he has devek B1 cams and I only had 82 cams. (euro) . probably a decent trade off, or maybe the restrictive intake, didnt let the cams breath enough. who knows. anyway, does Rich have any dyno runs??
Nice to see my old motor still cranking along. it was a good one!!!

The 928 estate will also puke water after a session if its above about 100F....even with the vent in the hood....I'm sure some type of spoiler-splitter in the front would help quite a bit by directing more air through the radiator

Yep - All CIS - His car is quite strong. When its cool outside he runs pretty darn fast with no heat issues what so ever. His car normally doesnt get hot - it was just the elements that pushed it over. My car ran right at the critical red mark but luckily for me, didnt boil over.

Our local Shark club is planning a Dyno day sometime in November. Oct just has too many previous planned dates to schedule any sooner. I dont think he has any sheets from any previous dyno runs.

If your going to Sharktoberfest - Look for Dan Warner ans his Screaming Yellow 5.0 Hybrid Track car. This thing is TRICK and clean. I say almost concours as far as a track car can go. Hes the guy that works on mine and Richs car.

you need two fans to keep the 928 cool over 100 degrees. once you get over the mid line temp reading and get near the upper first white line, you are going to puke a little water, and as you puke you get air pockets and as you get those, you lose circulation and worsen the overheating and puking. with two fans and 150 hp more power the stock stuff works, but you need to have it vented properly and have capable fans.

But "capable" fans aren't exactly in the budget for $500 racing either.. :>(

I run two 10" puller race fans - clean airflow into the front with a small "lip" directing air into the radiator.
