Default Strange occurance (cont.)

I think I have solved my erratic idle problem. After trying the WD 40 method and out for a test drive I wa pulling into my drive way when the motor died. (The car must have a nose for home because the last time it died it was just as I sat in the driveway) I thought to myself "great job, you just toasted your motor due to TBF", however as I opened the door to get our I noticed that the interior lights did not come on. I got back in and turned the key and - nothing, no dash warning lights, no starter crank-dead silence. Could this be as Landseer wisely suggested -a ground problem? I opened the hatch and looked at the ground strap under hatch and noticed that a washer was installed between the strap and the ground plate. I must have done this when installing the LH brain. While I had the strap off I cleaned the ground connections, palced the washer on top of the strap end, tightened the wing nut and started the engine. Idle was perfect! Drove the car for about 45 minutes around town and hightway-no more idle surge at stops! Let idle in garage awhile and it ran fine.I hope this is the real fix, but am still going to install a PKlamp in the near future after becoming educated by fellow 928 ers on line. I contacted Louis Ott during my flexplate research and he sent me an excellent article on the subject. Thanks to all for your help.

usually elex problems start at the hatch area,

glad you running again.
Now check the ground strap next time you wash the car,
if the hatch floor is wet then fix the leaks, this water will get the cable corroded.

Also check that you have a hot post cover fitted this will keep the 14 pin connector dry.
This connector is under the hood on the passenger side
