Hello Joe(?),

I was looking for a Blue 94-95 GTS for a while. When Samantha's Blue GTS came
up for sale I really wanted it. Even lined up Bill B to help do a road trip to go pick it
up.
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-for-sale.html

She sold it to someone else (the luck devil), but I kept looking. Finally found one
9 months later that was local.

Just had to be patient.

George,

You going to be drag racing that car??? It is sitting pretty high in the hind end there for sure!

Looks a lot like Rob's car! Beautiful!

Thanks, no drag racing, just sitting on a slope. Funny thing about Rob's car and
mine, I had seen them both at ORR events in the past and met their prior owners.
Mine at the 2000 Pony Express II and Rob's at the 2004 Pony Express 130.

Heh, now that's a cool little piece of history (that I didn't get from the PO... )

EDIT:

http://www.openroadracing.com/html/pe04_gsd.html

150 mph class. Guess that explains the roll bar bolt holes and the harness anchors in the floor....

I looked for 3 years for my manual GTS - passed on many cars that didn't make cut... be patient there is a very limited supply.

You need to know excatly what you want though... garage queen or driver. If its a driver don't worry about mileage - its all about condition & maintenance... many 100K mile cars are better than 30K mile cars because they were looked after and maintained well - nothing much wears out that good maintenance can't stay on top of...

When I read George's post I thought immediately of you and if the PO had disclosed any of the track/racing history of the car. Explains a lot regarding the grenading engine.

I didn't really push him on it, he clearly disclosed that his mechanic said it needed a rebuild and that it was consuming a lot of oil. The rollbar holes, harness mounting points, Koni Reds, receipts for corner balancing, old posts on the PacNW Yahoo group about HPDE days, and the box of Pagid Orange brake pads were pretty good hints too.... I'm glad Tom was using it the way it was intended.

Now its reborn. Stronger, faster, better. Wouldn't have happened otherwise.

Points made about the 95's are good ones and probably not the car for me ($$ and I don't really desire a collector model). On with my search, thanks again!
So what are you looking for now?

5 spd isn't a "must", but desired. As for my price point, I guess it all has to do with the condition (maintenance, records, etc..) I'm not looking for a museum piece, but something that I'll be proud of. I realize, having owned 3 p-cars, these all have a value associated with them but more importantly, an on-going upkeep expense.

Joe,

Just have patience brother. My buddy Mike in San Antonio picked up one of the nicest GTS's i've ever seen back in May.

94 GTS41K miles, he ended up paying $34K for it. HE stole it right out from Willhoit''s backyard. (Sprinfield, Mo) The car looks, smells, and drives like new!!!

Here's link to the car on Chucky Z's Registry
http://www.928registry.org/1994-928GTS-0190.htm

I spent 5 years looking for mine. I love the car, but to be honest w you, there are days that I think I'd sell it before I'd sell the Silver Bullit.
Did I say that out loud??

My wife gave me the go ahead to "treat myself" for my 40th, but it came with "I'm cool w you having 1 car, but not 2, so if you get the newer 928, you need to sell the old one".

The storage facility down the road keeps the 79 out of sight and out of mind for her!!

Getting way off track here. Bottom line is, that we are in a very S##TTY economy and folks are unloading these cars. Bide your time and you'll be able to pick one up. (Sooner or later)

Keep checking in here on Rennlist. I PROMISE YOU, a GTS will come up somewhere and someone will chime in here and give you a heads up.

Good luck in the search!!

Be patient, it could take months to find a car that fits your budget and mileage criteria.

Here was a recent deal on a higher mileage (but well documented) '93 5-spd.
