Two questions: window rattle and armrest repair?
Hi folks,
While upgrading speakers in the doors, I've pulled the door panels to reglue vinyl and carpet, replace broken clips, etc.
The driver's side armrest in my car has it's plastic mounting points pretty well cracked and broken. Are there any decent repair methods for this? I was thinking of trying sheet metal and JB Weld. Any thoughts here?
The other question relates to the window, which rattles around when driving with it halfway down. I don't see anything obviously loose, but there is a decent amount of play between the plastic guides and the guide rod (http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...-91/804-15.php) (12, 13, and 8 here). Is there an adjustment procedure to reduce this play?
Thanks,
Paul

Some cable tie around the guide and rod to reduce slop. The big 3 used to carry sheet metal fixers for the door arms rests and pull, I have them fitted in my car(made by a guy in Oz originally).

you can add a zip tie to each plastic guide this should reduce the play BUT you can also buy new guides they are inexpensive and return the window to proper operation.
For the armrest repair i use rivets and sheet aluminum to repair the plastic BUT there are a few vendors that make complete doublers that are connected to the rear sides of the armrests those panels are about 75.00 a set

We have a repair kit for the arm rests. It adds aluminum brackets that won't crack or break again.

I just installed one of Nicole's repair parts on my drivers side door arm rest, it is a nice part and is easy to install.
I did use different size screws, the ones with the kit were just too small for the holes in the bracket and not a big issue.
I also painted the two screw heads you can see black.
I give it a 90/100 over all which is pretty good.
I also have the LED pod lights to try and the repair brackets for the console, passenger door arm rest yet to install, they look good so far.
