Default AAARGHHH!!! Broke my speedo needle shaft!

Well I got careless on my FIFTH attempt to find out what is wrong with my odometer on my 86 and why it keeps stopping. Never pays to be in a hurry. I accidentally bent the needle shaft and in trying to carefully straighten it, snap! Anybody have an old spare speedo guts assembly lying around they'd like to let go of? My odometer "seems" fine (pending solution), I would just need the speedo spindle assembly on the back of the odo. Or, any other suggestions - also much appreciated.

I'm jumping out for Folsom Live (hence my hurry today) and will check back into the forum tomorrow.

mine is bent from washing the dial. a few months ago i deleted the glass and turned my speed back 5 mph to get a more accurate reading past 100 mph... the big tires help by subtracting about 5 mph and the speedo subtracts another 5 mph to give a truer reading at the limiter. but, that needle is very delicate.

So, is there anybody out the that wants to sell me a used speedo mechanism for an 86 (compatible years?)? Or, does anyone know, will I have to buy an entire new/used speedo/odo assembly?

Thanks,

Dennis, I broke mine too, long story, I sent it to Hollywood Speedo along with my tach which was sticky. The fixed the speedo, calibrated it, cleaned and calibrated the tach, both cost $200 to repair/clean and calibrate. They didn't itemize so I don't know what they get for just the speedo repair. Phone - Tel. 818-761-5136 , web site - http://www.nhspeedometer.com/. Turned it around in a couple of days too.

You should have said you broke it by slamming it against the right side peg.

SUPER! Thanks Ed! And Glen I'll give Hollywood Speedo a call if an alternate solution doesn't present itself. Although this is my daily driver, I can suffer in the Suburban for a few days.
